A Silent Voice (聲の形, Koe no Katachi; lit. "The Shape of Voice") is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yoshitoki Oima. A Silent Voice was originally published as a one-shot in the February 2011 issue of Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine. A remake of the story began serialization in August 2013 in Weekly Shōnen Magazine, and finished its serialization in November 2014. The manga is complete in seven volumes. Crunchyroll began releasing the chapters online in English on March 15, 2014 and released the newest chapters as they were published in Japan beginning April 8, 2014.[1] Kodansha Comics licensed the series for print release in English.

An animated movie adaptation by Kyoto Animation aired September 17, 2016.

Plot[]

The story revolves around Shōko Nishimiya, a middle school student who has impaired hearing. She transfers into a new school, where she is bullied by her classmates. Shouya Ishida, one of the bullies, goes to the point that she transfers to another school. As a result, he is ostracized and bullied himself, with no friends to speak of and no plans for the future. Years later, he sets himself on a path to redemption.[2]
