Technical Update: March 12, 2013

Here are the latest technical updates at Wikia. Keep in mind that our system updates happen every Wednesday, so we’re posting this on a Tuesday to give you advance notice. Also note that we change hundreds of tiny details every week, so these are just the highlights.

Major Bugs Fixed

• The .activity-nav header was missing from Special:WikiActivity.
• Some interface elements for polls were not appearing in the correct language.
• Badly formatted links would cause Chat to crash, in some cases.
• Ogg files were not working in Monobook.
• On pages using TabView, multiple Forum Discussions modules were being displayed.

Other Notable Changes

• Admins can now remove videos from a wiki via Special:Videos, where the delete option shows on hover.
• All video file pages now exist locally, and videos can be removed there as well.

Select Known Issues

• When editing a page, reordering categories within the category module will cause the categories to be removed when the page is saved.
• Previewing a page with more than 3 interlanguage links only displays the first 3. The rest are hidden by a 'see all' link that doesn't work in the preview module.
