Hello all!

This is the first edition of This Month at Fandom, a monthly roundup highlighting cool and noteworthy things which happened with wikis, content channels, and dev teams over the past month. It is the next step in our commitment to better communication with you and providing more recognition for our incredible wiki communities.

Last week, we announced the project to upgrade Fandom to a modern version of MediaWiki and received a lot of great feedback from the community. We followed up yesterday with the Community Contract for the New Fandom Platform, our long-term covenant with the community as we build out the future of Fandom. We are so excited to work with all of you on the next chapter of fan experiences!

Let’s check in with our vertical teams on what you may have missed in June!

Gaming[]

Last week, we launched a new wiki for Harry Potter Wizards Unite and it is taking off! If you’re helping enforce the Statute of Secrecy, definitely head over to the wiki for some great tips and tricks!

Our team also went all out on E3 coverage, with a bunch of new wiki spin-ups for games announced and spruce-ups for games we learned more about during the week. Be sure to check the wikis for upcoming games!

TV and Movies[]

With the release of Toy Story 4, we have a fun toy-making contest for US residents! Check it out here.

And on the Stranger Things wiki, we are testing a new night mode, if you enter in the community from 9pm to 6am, the design is changing and you will see the wiki like a version of the Upside Down. You can try it for yourself by changing the time for your PC to 10pm and the design will change after reload the page.

Anime[]

The Anime team has launched a new giveaway for Attack on Titan Season 3B. We've partnered with some great anime titans to develop other unique giveaways for the upcoming Summer season, including an awesome promotional effort for Dr. Stone. Additionally, we've contacted most of our major anime communities, and have launched revitalization projects to redesign the front page, improve content pages, and integrate communities with our promotional activities - all while expanding our team out with new Content Team and Wiki Team Members.

Tech Updates[]

On the tech update side of things, we have two announcements from June to highlight: updates to the Fandom mobile apps and the rollout of visual polls in Discussions. If you’re not already keeping an eye on the Technical Updates board, you should be!

In Case You Missed It...[]

We made a Twilight documentary! Check out the latest edition of Fandom Uncovered, which focuses on how the Twilight fandom saved the town of Forks, Washington.

Have a great weekend! Onward to July!
