Technical Update: September 16, 2015

Here are the latest technical updates at Wikia. Keep in mind that our system updates happen every Tuesday and Thursday - today's notes are for tomorrow's site update. Also note that we change hundreds of tiny details every week, so these are just the highlights.

New Features

We are introducing integrated support for Twitter, SoundCloud and Spotify widgets! They are really simple to use, with plenty of customization options available - you can learn how create and configure them here:

Several members of the Volunteer Developer team helped in the creation of these, including TyA and TK-999. Thanks to all of you!

Note: if you previously used Verbatim to include these on your community, we strongly recommend switching to these new methods (once they are available tomorrow).

Major Bug Fixes

• Earlier today, an issue that prevented some personal JS from working was fixed.

Other Notable Changes

Detailed CSS updates can be found at http://report.wikia.net - the diffs show changes to .css, .scss, .tmpl.php, .html, .sass and .mustache files in Wikia's codebase.

• Users without an email address on their account will see a banner reminding them to add one.
• The Insert Infobox dialog in the VisualEditor will show a message when no portable infoboxes are found.
