Since the Forum feature was introduced, many communities have found that it's a great way to help fans connect with one another, make plans around editing projects or community events, and get questions answered. A common feature request, especially from very active communities, has been for a better way to moderate forum activity.
We're pleased to announce that, with tomorrow's release, a new "moderator" user group will be available to all wikias. Along with this come some updates to what regular users can and can't do on Forum and Message Wall threads.
These updates are relevant only to the Forum and Message Wall features. As with other user groups, admins can assign the moderator role to users if the community has the need for it. See below for specific details.

Moderators can |

Regular users can |
No longer remove and restore replies, except replies they posted |

In both features, there are no changes to the options available for the admin user group or rollback user group. Regular users are not able to revert actions performed by moderators or admins (remove, restore, close, reopen), even on their own Message Walls.
In the past, we've set up custom moderator-type user groups for some wikias upon request. If you're an admin from one of those communities and would like to have your custom group removed or renamed for clarity, please let us know.
Special thanks to Sactage, one of our Volunteer Developers, for all of the work he did to make this possible. Let us know how this new user group might be helpful on your community!
