You can now explore a working version of the new look on five totally different wikis. We are very enthusiastic for the community to see the new Wikia on a living, breathing wiki and we hope you are just as excited to test it out! We've been taking you along with us on our journey towards an improved Wikia and we've come a long way from the first rough sketches to a working prototype. Now it's your turn to take it for a spin!
As a part of the process to pull in as much concentrated feedback as possible we will be conducting two phases of beta testing. The first phase will be a limited beta, which we're inviting you to apply to participate in now. We’ll follow that up with an open public beta in which everyone will be able to participate.

Improvements to commenting
UPDATE: Things are moving fast here at Wikia! We’re working hard to keep the community up to date with all the changes that are rolling out, so last minute product tweaks are sometimes made after our initial announcements.
We spent a lot of time reasoning out the sort order for comments and our team has decided that while this isn’t necessarily the way everyone prefers to read comments the best choice for the whole community is to show the newest comment first. In order to maintain a cleaner, simpler layout there will not be an option to change this sort order in the current release.

I'd like to introduce myself. I'm Susan and I've recently taken on the role of Community Marketing Manager at Wikia. As a Bay Area native, I've grown up surrounded by technology and internet boom. I got my start as a young bookworm and then PC gamer (/wave Commander Keen!). As a recovering MMORPG addict, I evolved my interests in all things geek, tech and writing into a career in the internet industry at a variety of start-ups, most recently as a member of Ning's top-notch Advocacy team.
