Pride this year comes during a time of deep, and global grief. It is important that we hold space for the heaviness many are carrying and be there for one another, more than ever.

The roots of Pride began as a movement for equality, justice and visibility led by those unafraid of challenging the status quo. In the spirit of Pride, it is important we carry this legacy into 2025.

Here we come together to share what we love, regardless of identity.

Take a moment to look into some of the history that made Pride into what it is today, and learn new ways to get involved. Through kindness and compassion, education and advocacy, we all have a role to play in uplifting one another.

Ways to get involved with Pride[]

  • Check out what’s happening in your local community. Showing up in person is one of the most traditional and bold ways to advocate for a better tomorrow.
  • Raise your pride flag high. If you are comfortable, grab a flag which represents your support or self expression, use it in person, in your bio online, or add it to your profile picture. It is a great way to not only express yourself, but to connect with others in the community.
  • Brush-up on your LGBTQ+ knowledge. No time is better than now to learn more. Check out your local libraries, online book retailers or even your local LGBTQ+ book clubs.
  • For something more editing-based, give pages with LGBTQ+ characters and themes a visit, see if they need any extra care this month.
These resources are also available to you, if you need them. Some range from global support, to regionally focused. They all have incredibly helpful directories to get you started.

Remember...[]

At the heart of Pride, it is love and compassion. It isn’t just one month, it is all year round. It is the result of a long and courageous journey. Your existence is a resistance. Your joy is invaluable and precious. Take care of yourself and show yourself kindness.

A common theme that came up in our previous observance for Trans Day of Visibility was a sense of community amongst others. Whether it is amongst friends and family, or folks on the internet. The way we connect— with kindness and understanding— matters. Especially in difficult times, simple acts of respect and recognition can make a world of difference.
