Hey editors!

In the reorganization announcement, we outlined a few areas of focus for our current projects. We already told you about the Fandom Wiki Managers and Content Team and the MediaWiki Upgrade. Today, we’re happy to share another project ready for launch: the official Discord server for Fandom and Gamepedia editors and admins!

A big ask from the community has been better communication with staff. This new server will allow our editors and admins to have increased access to staff with lower communication barriers.

Why Discord?[]

A lot of wiki teams already use Discord to organize editing and admin activity, so it makes the most sense to go where so many of our users are already comfortable. Discord also represents a nice unification opportunity for users of Fandom and Gamepedia, allowing you to learn from each other.

We have channel categories for Fandom, Gamepedia, major subject areas, and technical help, so there’s a lot to be gained by joining the server and interacting with your fellow editors.

Verification[]

To make sure this new resource is valuable for editors and admins, it is limited to registered editors and admins only. New users joining the server will be required to verify the connection between their Discord account and their Fandom and/or Gamepedia account(s) in order to access the channels beyond the #verification channel.

To ensure a smooth verification process, have your Discord account already made, make sure you know the password, and add your Discord username to your wiki profile masthead ahead of time. You can delete your username from your profile after you’ve been verified in the #verification channel.

Rules[]

The rules of the server are pretty simple and can be found in the #rules channel, but the server is also governed by the Fandom terms of service. Users who are globally blocked on Fandom/Gamepedia already will not be verified on the server. Bad behavior on the server can have consequences on the wiki platforms.
