Community Central

Hello everyone!

It's been a while, but as part of the efforts to make Central more editor-oriented, we've been updating several parts of the wiki. Most obviously, the wiki main page and wiki navigation, our team listings and a visual refresh for our policy hub.

Navigation - what's changed?

We have restructured our navigation to make it easier to find what you are looking for with simpler, more descriptive actions: Advice to get started (Get Started With Fandom), support requests (I need help), help documentation (I want to learn), and everything Around Fandom.

In getting started you will find all newly created advice that helps you get started with things you'd like to learn about, e.g., understanding wikitext, if you were never using it before, as well as references to things you also want to know about, like current ongoing events and other community programming.

In "I need help," you will find things that are common asks/places to go to: Community forums, adoption requests, help with vandalized wikis, staff extension toggle requests, and more. Any link here will lead to somewhere that is designed to help you find the help you're looking for.

Under "I want to learn," we bundled all our help documentation offerings in new ways. Forefront here is the new sections found directly on the index and frequently asked questions.

"Around Fandom" compiles everything that matters aside from general editing topics: Fandom Staff News, Policies around e.g. equality and inclusion, wiki philosophies, meeting the staff, Fandom's social media offerings, and other exciting parts of the Fandom network.

Mainpage - what's changed?

Explore the new Main Page!

A lot! Starting today, staff blogs will be segmented by their category - Product, Technical Updates, DEI, Program Updates, and Company Updates. Each has its dedicated place on the main page moving forward, showing up once new blogs have been added.

Our newly established advice material also finds its place on the main page, along with what matters most: Explaining brand new people - anyone - how to get started with editing.

On the right side, we've dedicated a section to the upcoming events on our discord server and included a new module showcasing new, active wikis every week automatically. If you are a veteran editor who wants to help new founders get started, this is your go-to list, so be sure to check back often!
