Hello everyone!
We have heard your message clearly that you want us to do more to bring new editors to Fandom. Recently, on the product front, we already have communicated some of the great success we've found, and to complement these efforts on the social side of things, we have set out to make it easier for newcomers to become first-time editors, do their next few edits and finally join the users who feel confident enough to explore around the network and wikis on their own.
Presenting the new Advice Section of our help documentation:
We have been working internally and in collaboration with our Fandom Stars group to bring custom advice and opinion blogs for new users to explore and dive into. For people who are not yet comfortable with editing or do not even know yet what "editing" means, we created the beginner section aimed at making their start on Fandom more easy, using more uncomplicated and more common terminology found outside the wiki world while slowly explaining what the wiki terms mean throughout their learning journey.
All advice provided in Your First Steps on Fandom, Your Next Steps on Fandom, and Your Journey to Becoming a Power User are aimed at bringing new people to the level where most administrators expect new users to be, knowledge and skill-wise.
However, inclusiveness doesn't stop at including newbies - this is why we have a fourth track to follow, Your Journey to Becoming a Community Mentor, which is packed with various advanced advice from Fandom Staff, Fandom Stars, and others that previously contributed blogs to Community Central!
Go check out our new advice section and let us know whether someone you know who isn't editing wikis yet would be able to easily jump into becoming a member of the community or how you will be using the new material to work with new people on your wiki!
