Questions or feedback? Contact us!

Eyo, my lovely people. It's gonna be may! If you know, you know, and you're welcome to now have that song on repeat in your head. If you don't know, no worries, it's an age thing. Either way, welcome to our first tech blog of May! Every two weeks, the Technical Updates blog takes you through a selection of user-facing bugs that got fixed, potential experiments that are running, or things that changed on the platform. Other than (hopefully) serving as a source of information to you, you can also use the comment section to ask questions, give constructive feedback, and report any bugs you may have encountered.

Recent Fixes[]

  • DiscussionsAbuseFilter exports sometimes failed to import
  • The collapse button for the desktop drawer now is a solid color “on top” of any widget content underneath for increased visibility.
  • Discussions is no longer showing trending/explore content for unrelated wikis.
  • VisualEditor edits on DC Database caused the template page content to be duplicated outside of the template.
  • The Template Data module was sometimes positioned inside the editing window when using the 2017 VisualEditor source mode.

Fixes in Development[]

  • Part of the continued effort to clean up the user-experience, the UXFCP team is working to remove the in-line newsletter signup module on FandomMobile as it's just taking up unnecessary space that we want to give back.
  • The UXFCP team is working on making sure the bold text will be properly distinguishable again from normal text on FandomMobile.
  • To help with accessibility, the site notice title will be reclassified from an H1 to an H2; this will help screenreaders to properly navigate the page.
  • Another decluttering measure in the works, Popular Pages and Others Like You will be removed from the right rail.

Tech Blog May 2, 2025 - old and new registration form

The new (left) and old (right) registration forms

  • [Product Release] Registration form redesign: This has been in the works for a while (check the experiment details about the different potential redesigns). The idea was simple, we wanted to update the user interface to make it more engaging and user-friendly for account creation. This update covers both the desktop and the mobile pages, as well as the registration and sign-in forms.

That's it for the issue! Per usual, if you encounter something that feels off about the platform, please report it by sending in a bug report, reach out to your Community Manager, contact the Product Support Owner on their Wall/talk page, or just simply sound off in the comments here. Remember to include a link to where you're experiencing the issue, a screenshot if it is something visible, as well as steps to reproduce your issue. As always, thank you for helping us by continuing to communicate. Happy editing, everyone!
