Hey y'all!

We’re excited to share the final story from our Editor Stories series for Hispanic Heritage Month! Fandom’s theme for Hispanic Heritage Month is Las Voces. We introduced a handful of creators who use their voices to encourage others and amplify the voices of community members here at Fandom. Throughout this series, we focused on the wonderful things that can happen when we encourage others to share their thoughts and words with the world, and the impact entertainment and culture have on these editors. We explored the power of community and the growth editors experienced on the platform.

MEET THEJOAQUI777[]

Say hello to Thejoaqui777! You might know them as TheSuperPlayer as well. He is from Peru, South America and loves a variety of things. If he’s not editing wikis, he’s probably running on the streets every once in a while. He also enjoys listening to music, watching nature videos, and browsing the news.

Learn more about Thejoaqui777 and see how he has contributed to building community, embracing his culture, and supporting the community.

1. How long have you been on Fandom?

Thejoaqui777: I have been here for some time. It's difficult to tell, because I actually joined Gamepedia first on 2020, and met Fandom when FandomDesktop was released at 2021, but I met with Fandom people even on 2020. As a result, if I had to say anything, I have been editing on Fandom for 2 years, not just because Gamepedia was part of Fandom at that point, but actually because of the spanish people who were with me all this time.

2. What specifically drew you to Fandom, and how did you get started editing?

Thejoaqui777: Minecraft Wiki ES is by far the one where I have contributed the most. I've also helped on wikis such as the english Minecraft Wiki, Wiki Terraria ES or even to localize some help pages into our native language on the Comunidad Central wiki itself (the spanish version of Community Central), to help our users to know more about all the interesting things that can be done on wikis (following the wiki policy of course).

I love the different perspectives and ideas from users on each wiki I visited and I have edited on, because that is an opportunity to learn about something new and something you can use as well. Whether I'm on english wikis or Spanish wikis, there's something both share, and it's the dedication they have to continue working to make their wikis better places. All these years, I've met people who taught me how to improve (hi GreenWithin and Bitomic, I'll make you famous ;D), people who introduced me to wikis (thanks Frisk, AttemptToCallNil, MarkusRost and Magiczocker, from the english Minecraft Wiki, and also Darío, who introduced me to the spanish wiki as well :D), and people who I was pleased to help (hi RonnnyHD‎, SrWesly, and Reverse88 as well, I'm glad to have helped you :D), and while I could mention a lot of more people, just seeing the communities growing well is something very valuable for me.

3. What wikis do you contribute to and what do you love most about those communities?

Thejoaqui777: Minecraft Wiki ES is by far the one where I have contributed the most. I've also helped on wikis such as Minecraft Wiki, Wiki Terraria ES or even the Comunidad Central wiki itself, to help localize the help pages into our native language (following the wiki policy of course). I love the different perspectives and ideas from users on each wiki I visited and I have edited on because that is an opportunity to learn about something new and something you can use as well.

4.  Fandom’s theme for Hispanic Heritage Month is Las Voces. In your opinion, what doors open when individuals are able to share their voices with the world?

Thejoaqui777: Definitely, opportunities and learning. Opportunities to meet new people, receive many suggestions, navigate through a sea of colors and designs. Learning to behave with other users, edit wiki pages and templates, design a wiki using CSS, and understand other perspectives and ideas. Those are the doors I can see being opened.

5. What brings you the most joy about your culture and heritage?

Thejoaqui777: That it's very diverse. From clothing to traditions, from language to building techniques, where I come from is full of diversity. And even if I'm just the regular city habitant, I have a lot of curiosity about our history and the acceptance of all people through the years, which has been progressing and improving each year.

6. Are there any Hispanic actors, characters, or creators that inspire you?

Thejoaqui777: I don't know if there can be someone relevant from a Hispanic part that inspires me, because there's been plenty of things happening worldwide, but I know people who I have a lot of respect for, even if they're not that known. One person is someone called Ryo, who battled to make a game have a better system of translations, and succeeded. Another is just a regular user called Darío, who maybe wasn't the most notable user, but welcomed me gently to the first community I edited, and that's something I can appreciate and can't thank enough, because they made me feel inspired to continue my road to edit wikis.

7. Is there a moment in entertainment history that resonates deeply with you?

Thejoaqui777: It's hard to think about it since I tend to just watch Youtube videos, but I've seen the changes in how people made entertainment through the years, ones being funny, others being serious, and others being just weird. There isn't something that does resonate with me, but I feel that the evolution of entertainment itself is what resonates with me, because it's people adapting to new things through the years, and that's something to get inspiration from.

LAS VOCES[]

Check out our takeaways from Thejoaqui777’s interview!

Takeaway #1 What doors open when individuals are able to share their voices with the world? Opportunity and learning promote growth when we have a platform to share our stories. We’ve learned throughout this series that the stories of editors are diverse and filled with valuable lessons that can be applied on and off the platform.

Takeaway #2 “I have a lot of curiosity about our history and the acceptance of all people through the years, which has been progressing and improving each year.”

The depth of culture can take a lifetime to explore. As we grow older, we learn more about the significance of our culture and its impact. There’s information that can surprise, inspire, and delight us.

Takeaway #3 “There isn't something that does resonate with me, but I feel that the evolution of entertainment itself is what resonates with me, because it's people adapting to new things through the years, and that's something to get inspiration from.”

Entertainment is constantly evolving! People are adapting to the shifts in entertainment and expanding their minds. Of course, there are consequences to this shift, but it is fascinating to experience nonetheless.

We hoped you enjoyed this editor story! Stay tuned for more programming and announcements, and be sure at Las Voces means to you!
