Hey everyone!
The Community Team continues to provide diverse and inclusive experiences that honor and celebrate you! We’re excited to kick off Women’s History Month and spotlight creators, IPs, and women behind-the-scenes at Fandom that “break the bias” by forging a path that supports women's equality. We have some exciting things lined up this month! We’ll share what “break the bias” entails through a blog series highlighting your stories. Join the upcoming Discord events to learn more about Fandom as a company, social media campaigns to go behind the scenes of your favorite IPs, and stay tuned for a video product to wrap it all together. At Fandom, we serve a global community — a global community made up of women who break the bias and do great things. We plan on bringing you some of those stories this month.
Women’s History:[]
International Women’s Day this year is centered on the theme of #BreaktheBias. Breaking the bias dismantles gender inequality, smashes stereotypes, and calls out bias. We’re committed to breaking the bias through our active efforts of inclusion, and we’re calling everyone in and inviting you to amplify and unify your voices as we break the bias together.
The first Women’s History Day was held in 1909, the first anniversary of the garment worker strike in lower Manhattan, New York. From there, it evolved into Women’s History Week in 1978. In Sonoma County, California, an education task force kicked off Women's History Week in 1978 on March 8, International Women's Day. In 1987, it became Women’s History Month. Women’s History Month is recognized globally and celebrates women’s contributions to history, culture, and society.
