Creating an Inclusive Space With the LGBTQIA+ Wiki Admins
Hey all!
I was going to open this blog with something like “I hope everyone is having a happy Pride Month!” but I think we all know this past weekend has not been so happy. As I mentioned in my previous blog, Pride is just as much about acknowledging the struggles of the LGBTQIA+ community as it is about celebrating its accomplishments and progress, and sadly we’ve faced some pretty harsh struggles in recent days.
On Friday, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, rolling back the constitutional right to abortion. This isn’t just a women’s rights issue; this impacts the trans and non-binary community as well, especially poor folks and BIPOC. Not stopping there, Justice Thomas also called on the court to target some landmark cases for …
Celebrate Pride Month with Fandom
Hello everyone!
I know I don't post blogs very often, but this is an especially important one for me. June has finally arrived and you know what that means... HAPPY PRIDE MONTH!
As always, Fandom is excited to celebrate Pride and the accomplishments of creators in the LGBTQIA+ community. It's always a full circle moment for me when I get the opportunity to give back to the community who helped me so much with discovering myself and coming to terms with my own queer identity. I had the great pleasure of discussing this a bit at Community Connect this past weekend (shoutout to everyone who was there!), and I'm thrilled to continue promoting the message of love and acceptance by sharing various programming initiatives with you all throughout thi…
Memory Alpha Interactive Video Premiere
Hey everyone!
Last month, I was here to announce the premiere of our first ever wiki-specific Interactive Video for DC Database, which featured ten odd and unexpected versions of Batman within the DC Omniverse, just in time for The Batman release. If you haven’t seen it yet, I highly recommend you check it out, but if Batman is not your thing, don’t worry, the DC Interactive Video was only the first of more to come!
As promised, I am back once again to reveal our next Interactive Video, and this time it revolves around one of the greatest sci-fi franchises of all time - that’s right, Star Trek! And we’re just in time for the premiere of Star Trek: Picard season two.
The video, which was made in collaboration with our archivers over at Memory Alpha…
DC Database Interactive Video Reveal
Hey everyone!
It’s been quite a while since I posted a blog, but today I am happy to return with a really awesome update! As Brandon mentioned in his last blog post, we’ve been working directly with community members on the creation of several wiki-specific interactive videos for some of our top wikis. We already unveiled the interactive video pilot for Diablo II, but these are the first videos specifically made for the community, in collaboration with the community. They have been months in the making, and today I am so excited to finally share the completed DC interactive video with you all, before it officially goes live on DC Database!
The video will take you through the different variants versions of Batman within the DC Omniverse. If you ar…
Halloween Editing Event: Hocus Focus
Calling all witches and warlocks!
Bubble, bubble, we’re in trouble, and we need YOUR help sprinkling some magic across Fandom for the Halloween season.
I know what you might be thinking.. isn’t Halloween just a conspiracy invented by the candy companies? Possibly. But that doesn’t mean we can’t join in on the fun too!
So you know what that means.. it’s that time of the year for another spooky editing marathon, and the Movies/TV/Anime Team wants you involved!
Not a witch or a warlock? Well, that’s ok! Mortals are welcome to join too. Who knows, maybe you’ll actually be transformed into a witch after this. No promises though.
From Wednesday October 28 to Tuesday November 3, Movies/TV/Anime will be organizing an effort to focus editors to contribute to…
