Hola everyone!

It’s certainly been an exciting and eventful Hispanic Heritage Month celebration here at Fandom. The Community Team has been honoring and amplifying the voices of the Hispanic community all month long, but in case you missed it, here’s a recap: we kicked things off with an Interactive Map showcasing various IPs and talent from a variety of Hispanic countries. We posted a series of blogs sharing the stories of Hispanic community members who create inclusive spaces on and off the Fandom platform. We hosted a roundtable on Discord today to discuss beloved games, movies, and TV shows that celebrate the Hispanic diaspora. And last but not least, we have one final piece to share with you all!

We wanted to wrap up the month with a special video experience highlighting the voices of Hispanic creators on Fandom and in fandom. To tell the story of “Las Voces,” we invited three Hispanic individuals to share their stories, culture, and influences, how they have used their voices to support the Hispanic community, and how other Hispanic voices have impacted them throughout their lives.

In order to put the focus on everyone’s voices and truly showcase Hispanic culture, we wanted to do a compilation of audio-only interviews in Spanish, with English subtitles and overlaying footage of each person’s fandoms, elements of their culture, and imagery associated with their respective countries. (Trust me, these landscapes will blow you away.)

There may be some familiar faces in this video as well as some new ones. If you’re a user on ES communities, you’ve probably seen International Wiki Rep SacredOwl around. You can find him on a wide range of Spanish wikis including Bleach, Fairy Tail, and Drag Race. You might recognize Antonio who’s been on Fandom since 2007! He’s had many roles here throughout the years, but he is currently Lead Community Manager on the Community Experience team. And if you’re a fan of cosplay, you’re going to love Indra. She is a woman of so many talents - from art to makeup to streaming to designing costumes - she truly does it all.

We hope you enjoy a look into the lives of these amazing Hispanic folks who were so kind to share their experiences with all of you!

As Indra said, “When one triumphs, the success is everyones”. Whether it’s running a scout troop, lending a hand to ES communities, or breaking barriers in the cosplay world, everyone has the power to take action, no matter how big or small, to uplift the Hispanic community. Hearing the voices of others promotes acceptance and understanding, so I encourage everyone to take the time to listen and learn from the experiences of Hispanic folks around them. Hispanic culture has made such a massive impact on society at large, and together we can all appreciate, embrace, and celebrate this beautiful culture through food, music, language, and each other. Not just this month, but all year long.

I want to give a huge shoutout to all of our video participants for promoting inclusivity and lending their voices to shine a light on Hispanic heritage and culture! I also want to thank everyone who has engaged with our HHM programming throughout this month, as well as those who shared their powerful stories and insights on our blog.

If you see these awesome community members around (Antonio, SacredOwl, ReverieCode, GreenWithin, Fearless Diva, and Thejoaqui777), say hi and show them some love! If you want to keep up with Indra and all of her fantastic work, you can check her out on Instagram, Twitter, Twitch, and her personal website. And if you’d like to stay in the loop and participate in all of our DEI discussions, come join the Fandom Discord server and chat with us.

Now we’d love to hear from you! Who are your favorite Hispanic influences? What elements of Hispanic culture are meaningful to you? How have you used your voice to make an impact on the Hispanic community? Share with us below :)
