Technical Update: March 7, 2016

Here are the latest technical updates at Wikia. Keep in mind that our system updates happen every Tuesday and Thursday - today's notes are for tomorrow's site update. Also note that we change hundreds of tiny details every week, so these are just the highlights.

Major Bug Fixes

• We have identified and fixed an issue that caused portable infoboxes to produce bad text 'snippets' on locations like the 'Top Pages' module on Special:Search. The chosen text will be updated as articles are edited.

Other Notable Changes

Detailed CSS updates can be found at http://report.wikia.net - the diffs show changes to .css, .scss, .tmpl.php, .html, .sass and .mustache files in Wikia's codebase.

• This week we will be retiring the beta Flags feature on communities where it had been enabled. Affected communities have been notified, such as on here.
• We will be added some missing rights to the Content Moderator group, including 'deletedtext' and 'deletedhistory'.
• To reduce potential confusion, some bureaucrat rights will be cleaned up such that they don't duplicate admin rights. (By design, bureaucrats are intended to also be in the admin group.)

Select Known Issues

• We're aware of an issue preventing edits to personal and community JS pages - this is being investigated as a priority. A fix for this issue is now live
• We're also aware of an issue with promoting and demoting users from custom groups - this is also being investigated as a priority. A fix for this issue is now live
