Technical Update: March 9, 2016

Here are the latest technical updates at Wikia. Keep in mind that our system updates happen every Tuesday and Thursday - today's notes are for tomorrow's site update. Also note that we change hundreds of tiny details every week, so these are just the highlights.

Major Bug Fixes

• Yesterday we fixed an issue that prevented custom JS editing, and an issue that prevented custom user group changes.
• Today we have fixed an issue were some users were incorrectly being shown a CAPTCHA form when making edits, and an issue related to bureaucrat rights and blocks.

Other Notable Changes

Detailed CSS updates can be found at http://report.wikia.net - the diffs show changes to .css, .scss, .tmpl.php, .html, .sass and .mustache files in Wikia's codebase.

• We have cleaned up some lingering empty rows from Special:UserActivity lists.
• As previously announced, the Flags feature has now been retired.
• Support for embedding new videos from Metacafe is retired, due to changes in their API and low usage on Wikia. Existing embedded Metacafe videos will continue to work.

Select Known Issues

• We are looking into an issue where Chat moderator promotion does not work from within Chat. Special:UserRights can be used in the meantime.
