The welcome tools are a great way to let new users feel good on your wiki. Using them will never be bad.

What can you write?[]

You can write something about your wiki and show some links to nice pages. Also you can say something about how to edit and what pages the wiki need. Another thing to say is about where people can find help. But there are much more things you can say.

Where can I change?[]

Message Wall[]

Go on your wiki tot the page: "MediaWiki:Welcome-message-wall-user". On this page you can edit the message registered users get. If you want to welcome an anonymous editor you can go to this page: "MediaWiki:Welcome-message-wall-anon".

Talk Page[]

If you want to change the welcome message of somebody who has registered yet you can edit this page on your wiki: "MediaWiki:Welcome-message-user". To edit the message for anonymous users you can edit this page: "MediaWiki:Welcome-message-anon".

Tips[]

  • Use not much css, because the message will posted on the message wall of the users.
  • Be creative
  • Use some nice codes to show:
    • The page the user has edited: $1
    • The page of the user who left the message: $2
    • A signature: $3
    • The name of the person you welcomed: $4

If you have questions about customizing the welcome message or want help with something please go to my message wall to ask me about it. You can also ask an admin on this wiki, go to the forum or ask in the chat.
