About me[]

Hello

My name is Ken M. and I have been involved with RPGs from 1976 to today. I started off playing AH games like Midway and Panzer leader. In HS we had a small group of gamers who loved WW2 simulation games such as Squad Leader. Then one day we heard of a RPG called Dungeons and Dragons. I was the first to acquire the rules and it was like a bomb had gone off. Creating adventures and running worlds soon displaced WW2 battles, in fact it had a large effect on the local gamming conventions as well, gamers found them selves displaced by Role Players, battle mats, chits or funny dice and spools of thread or M&Ms for dragons and orcs.

  • The mainstay of my hobby has been D&D in all its revs. I’ve played many other RPG games over the years. From mutant chronicles to tunnels and trolls, champions to Role Master.
  • In the navy we would play marathon sessions while away at sea, huge elaborate campaigns. I dragged my books to over 5 different commands in 6 years, schools and ships. I found the site of a PH brought me a slew of friends, and learning I was a DM, with the books guaranteed me a game.
  • Over the years I had the luck of meeting many people in the industry; Arneson had me play test his Adventures in Fantasy after a chance meet. I’ve heard Gygax both speak, and complain.
  • All my life I’ve lived in the Bay area but for the time spent in the navy. My passion was technology so I worked with RF generators, Ion Implanters and other fun toys for over 20 years now.
  • There are some very good conventions in the area and the RPG scene is quite strong. My current group is about 7 years old now. We play 3.5 and are watching 4.0 to see where it goes.
