Hello! Now most of you probably remember Sannse's post about why Staff only rarely intervenes with admins who go over the line. Now there are some admins who think that because Staff only rarely intervene, that they can do whatever they want and also believe that some users can break the rules and get away with it, while unfairly pinning the blame on users who would be likely suspects get all the blame laid at their door. This is where the term biased admins come in. This is especially true of longtime admins who refuse to see that users who were problem makers in the past and are helpers now who would rather prefer to see them banned. This is where my proposal comes in. I propose the creation of The Admin Regulation Board which will trial and prosecute admins accused of bias and misconduct. It will answer to Staff with Staff or the Board voting on whether or not someone gets into it. In order to be elgible, you must meet the requirements.
1. You must be a good admin with several years of experience under your belt.
2. You must be known as a fair and just admin, Wikia Stars and former VSTF members genuinely qualify.
3. You must have no incident in your history for banning a user under false pretense or at the insistence of someone else, along with threating a user with a ban that is not in justifiable circumstances.
Should this motion to create the Board pass, it will deal with the following charges.
1. Admins who turn a blind eye to some users being outright willing to take the rules into their own hands.
2. Banning a user under false pretense such as claiming someone was stirring up trouble when that person was actually trying to avoid it, primarily at the instigation of someone else. This is especially true if the recipient of the block has not done anything in a while on the wiki.
3. Genuinly ignoring the requests of users who state they were banned unfairly.
4. Threating users who either accidentally or unintentionally set off an incident, such as threating them with a block or blaming them for events after the block.
5. Outright allowing admins or other users to single out other users without issuing a punishment, which is especially true if the user was trying to help, and the accuser barged into the conversation.
The Board will conduct the trial fairly which means that an admin or burecrat on trial can be set free. If an admin or burecrat is fount guilty, they can receive the following punishments.
1. Warning: A warning depends on how serious the charge is. Should it be a minor charge or a result of a misunderstanding, then an admin can receive several until a fine is handed out. In the event it is a major charge, such as turning a blind eye or banning users unfairly, then they receive one or three warnings depending on the ruling. In severe instances there wont be a warning.
2. Fine: A fine is where the admin or burecrat is still allowed to use the powers associated with the rank, but they will be monitored for a certain number of days. How large of a fine depends on how serious the charge is if convicted.
3. Suspension: This is in the event the admin or burecrat is found guilty of a charge that is too heavy for a fine. They are still allowed to edit, but they don't have access to their powers for however the Board rules.
4. Removal: In the event an admin or burecrat has been found guilty of a charge more than once, or has committed a heinous enough crime found guilty of, their rights will be removed, either from the wiki they are on that the charge originated from, or from all wikis they are admin on, depending on the Board's declaration.
5. Block: Extremely rare punishment, which would only be used as a last resort, where the admin or burecrat is stripped of their rights and then blocked, either locally, or in the event it is a TOU violation, globally.
I believe that the creation of this is needed in order to ensure that wikis can have fair admins and to ensure that users whose voice genrally would not be heard can make themselves known. Please let me know if you support the creation of The Admin Regulation Board.
