  • I have a wiki with many anymous users on it, and i want them to be able to reply to posts. So how do I migrate into Forums instead of dicussions?

    • If you are talking about Forum like the one we are using right now, you can't. In fact, Fandom is planning to migrate all Forum posts on all wikis to Discussions by the end of this month.

    • Complain to FANDOM staff via "Contact us".

    • The wiki I am most active on is struggling with that too. I have noticed that recently, anonimous users became able to post on the new message walls (and even trigger notifications). So you can make an alternative account and use it's wall as a forum board.

Edit: Also, there are Wiki-style forums which are open to anonimous users. They are not as convenient and intuitive as the retired forums but you may get used to it.

    • The wiki I am most active on, Well, Its a subsitute for a retired game, that had a blog. And we have lots of friends we all made there, most of them underaged.

    • I'm not sure how that is related to what I said, but Fandom can't allow underaged users because they are obliged to the US laws.

    • Well, they can't knowingly allow underaged users, but they are careful to avoid knowing. Also it isn't just US laws.

I agree, and personally I think that's wise of them...

    • HumansCanWinElves, I decided to test what you said about message walls. It turns out anons can now also post blog comments as well. However, it seems that you still can't:

      1. Use Special:UserProfileActivity to view an anon's social activity
      2. Click their name in posts to get to their profile/activity or even see who they are (i.e. their IP address)

It appears that the only place to view their activity is on Special:SocialActivity. I assume that keeps logs for only so long so that means there is no accessible permanent record of an anon's social activity at the moment. Is there some other admins tool I am not aware of the solve this issue?

    • Me and others noticed that as well. If I recall right, the avatar picture on anons' article comments leads to their non-existing profile, that can lead to their contribs by altering the URL, but no UserProfileActivity available. The avatar picture on anons' MW messages leads to an actual MW under the name Null - the only MW on UCP without an associated user, as far as I know.

Looks like the whole system is just buggy.

No, I meant the game ( Before it shut down) had a lot of underaged for fandom users.

    • Oh OK.

The best way for you to communicate, I think, are Wiki-style forums.

    • OKay, I know what code to put in, but I'm still confused about where to put it.

        Loading editor
    • It's not code, it's a feature. What is the link to your wiki?

Don't even try to wonder what its about...

      Its complicated.

    • Wiki-style forums are not a feature like Special:Forum and Discussions... you need to sometimes create your own templates and and add boards, if you want anything beyond the default set at Forum:Index.

And yes, it is complicated. FANDOM thinking Wiki-style forums were a plausible replacement for Special:Forum for many admins was just plain ridiculous.

    • It looks like there is no Forum:Index at The kart kingdom games wiki, so a wiki-style forum will need to be built from scratch.

        Loading editor
    • I am willing to help with that if you want.
