  • This is a really basic question, but when users describe what they changed on the wikis, who sees the descriptions? Is it just admins or is it everyone? Haven't figured this one out.

    Thanks lots!

    • It appears everywhere regardless of if the user is in a group or not, they appear underneath the edit activity as "summary: editing page" or in the recent changes and user contributions in (example summary) format

    • Oh, thanks. I haven't yet found where to access the summaries, just who edited and what (summaries would be useful for knowing what kinds of things are under progress) but I will keep trying.

    • There are at least 4 places that edit summaries are visible.

      1. Pages' edit histories (example)
      2. Users' contribution pages (example)
      3. Special:WikiActivity
      4. Special:RecentChanges

Comments for actions like moving pages and promoting users can be viewed using Special:Log. Comments made for uploading images appear in the "File History" tab of the file's page. If uploading a new image (as opposed to a new version of an existing image), the comment is also used as initial content for the "About" tab; I think.

    • Thanks. Another thing is, what if you make adumb typo in the edit summary? Can you change it, delete it, hide it? It's driving me nuts haha.

    • I have made mistakes myself. Unfortunately, edit summaries cannot be altered once submitted. They can be hidden but that ability is reserved for staff and they won't use it for something as minor as a typo.

    • Damn. Guess I'll suffer then. Quick answer tho, helpful 10/10
