There are ways to draw attention to your wiki. But you've got to sell it. What's your wiki about? What do you hope to achieve? Are there wikis on similar topics? What kind of help do you require?
Editing a wiki primarily comes from enjoyment of the subject, so asking if people want to come without mentioning the subject is not likely going to work.
