I am not sure if I am allowed to take it from the other sites. Fandom help pages say that we can copy templates from other fandom communities but don't mention other sites.
The question thus is:
Where from am I supposed to grab Yesno template (legally)?
in general case, you can copy a template from wikipedia or any other mw-based site, but it might (and most likely will) not work properly on fandom.
dev wiki serves as a library of shared scripts and modules. yesno module.
It will work on fandom. I have checked the source. I just wonder if it is legal to copy it.
I know about yesno module. I stumbled upon it when searched for the template.
But it is not the thing I need.
I don't need yesno module, I need Yesno template. Template.
1. I need Yesno template
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Yesno
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Template:Yesno
2. I know about Lua module Yesno. It is different thing. Yesno template is simple wikitext template.
There were no links in my posts since this forum returned errors when i tried to post links yesterday.
3. No. My question is not related to scripting or Lua.
Once again, i don't need Module:Yesno. I need Template:Yesno.
And i question if it is legal to take it from mediawiki.org or wikipedia.org since i can't find the template on fandom.
I know.
I don't know if copying template from another site is legal thing to do.
What is the proper procedure of copying templates from other sites? Am i supposed to provide attribution to original authors on doc page of template? Will anybody care if I don't?
To tell the truth i realized that rewriting my template from wikitext to Lua and using yesno module inside would be more convinient in my specific problem.
Still i would really appreciate if someone answered me what is de-facto proper procedure of copying templates/modules from other sites (or even other fandom communities).
There is no defacto proper procedure for as it depends on the source of the template. However, as a general rule for Wikia wikis, licensing is CC-by-SA which means it should be sufficient to just copy the template and add a note at the top about where you got it from. For example:
<!-- This template was copied from the Example Wiki (example.fandom.com). -->Copied Template Here
Again, that is just the general rule. There are a handful of Wikia wikis with a different license and the requirement for those might be slightly different. In terms of non-Wikia sites, there are numerous license types and each can potentially have different requirements.
Wikipedia templates fall under CC-by-SA, see Wikipedia:Copyrights:
FANDOM wikis are also CC-by-SA, so yes, you can copy Wikipedia templates to FANDOM wikis.
It would have been nice if you mentioned earlier on that licensing confusion was preventing you from copying the template you wanted.

I did mention several times that the question was about legality.
Though i admit i did it not clearly enough.

I do like this method. I do. Including link to original inside comment is the easiest thing possible. Will use it.
I really wish https://community.fandom.com/wiki/Help:Templates#Copying_templates_from_other_wikis would better describe ways of making attribution.
Not only it doesn't even mention how to make attribution neither it mentions other sites like wikipedia.
Case closed. Thanks everyone for help.
