Hi most recently, we've been creating many pages on charactercommunity.fandom.com , and I've noticed that if you have anymore than 2,000 pages in one category, the exhibition option gets taken away. I'm just asking a question why does it do that?
Fetches, not fletches. That means it grabs a bit of it to show it. It does not change anything about the original page. Whether category exhibition affects popularity of certain pages because of the image/lack of an image is not as clear. Popularity depends on a multitude of factors.
Do you think they could have a new feature some point in the future, not the same what I'm thinking, but it could be a dynamic exhibition where you don't have to scroll through them, but I think it would be entirly different then I thought it would.
Thanks to Fngplg who helped me solve the bug with my script (here). What script? This script that will auto-advance the pages in a category when using exhibition mode. I haven't written the documentation yet but feel free to try it out by copy-paste into your own personal JS.
Sending you a snippet of the code will not help you install it. First, just a snip of code won't work on its own. Second, you still need to install it the same way. Have you read the installation section on the documentation page?
What you need to do is copy the code that appears on the box on the script's page. If you want to use it on all wikis, copy it to global.js. If you want it on only a particular wiki, use your common.js for that wiki. For example, if you wanted it only for Community Central, you would paste the code here.
No, you did exactly what you were supposed to. Changing my username would have broken the code. Have you enabled your personal JS? It is disabled by default. If you have not yet enabled it, do so by editing your preferences. It is under the section "Advanced display options".
But, what I also really wish is that you could choose what columns of icons in the category exhibition you would like to view them in, like what you do when creating galleries.
Well, you can choose between most-viewed and alphabetical order. While custom orders might make some sense for small categories, I think it would be a nightmare for larger ones. You would basically have to manually maintain a list of every page in the category and manually keep track of the list's order.
