Again, since FANDOM does not restrict so called "impostor" wikis and actually encourages them if the "original" wiki has problematic admins, there is unlikely to be change on the FANDOM side.
Also, I have no idea how any of this discussion would make "sure nobody could use the hyphenated URL"...
Once more, you are providing irrelevant, unnecessary commentary for a problem that was solved 10 days ago. I really don't see what your intentions are, other than an attempt to aggravate. The requested assistance has been given and the judgment, as far I can see, is final. The problem is over. The fire is out and the hot spots have been quenched. There is no need to pour more water on something that is already cold and sodden.
I have no idea what sort of virtue you are trying to signal, but I assure you that top-gear was not founded due to disagreements between the administration and its userbase. The fact is top-gear.fandom had 2 pages, neither of which had any writing in them. It was barely distinguishable from a few mistaken clicks. There was no attempt at personalization. No images, no edits to the theme. It was a stillborn wiki most likely from a middle schooler who searched up the hyphenated URL and found nothing there, thus wrongly assuming that no wiki for the show existed.
Fracturing communities might work (and have worked) for other major juggernauts of entertainment such as GTA and Pokémon, primarily because they have hundreds if not thousands of active users at any one time. On my wiki there have been less than 10 contributors for the entire year, of which 3 (Myself, SennaPerformante and Mvanterati) have made more than 20 contributions, and perhaps no more than 50 total contributors since January 2018, mostly by anonymous users who have since been disallowed due to suspected vandalism.
The community is dead, and Wikipedia provides far less than what fans desire to know. They rarely feature detailed synopses of each segment. They have little in the way of screencaps and photographs. They don't feature anything they consider "irrelevant". If you can find someone who is willing to write down summaries of 200 television episodes, 20 series, 500 magazines, and hundreds of templates then be my guest. But the fact of the matter is the last thing the Top Gear community needs is a prospective rift.
I could always wipe the Wiki at any second and undo the many hours of hard work me and SennaPerformante have exclusively put into it since February this year, but the fact is I won't and I don't want to since it is the first and only time in a decade that anyone has attempted to document the show in its entirety, which is ludicrous when you consider 20-minute long child's cartoons get thoroughly detailed articles written about them the second they release. Also, that would be under the assumption that other FANDOM staffers are anywhere near as hostile as you are making yourself to be.
If this thread is bumped again, then I shall request this thread be deleted, as it is bordering on spam at this point. All I wanted to know was if it was possible to create a redirection, and since this is the case, this request has been fulfilled. I am not "buying" up URLs. There are a huge variety of other choices a future creator can use; tgfanwiki, clarksonhammondmay, bbctopgear, stigipedia for example are all available and ready to be created by someone with far more ambition than me.
Thank you very much and good night.
