I've noticed in the past week that images uploaded to wikis as PNGs and JPGs are being converted to WebP.
For example, if you click on the image at File:Domain migration results chart.png, it tries to save as a .webp file. (Note, however, that if you click the original file link on the image description page, you will still get the native file format — png — and it renames the file to "image").
Did I miss a Staff Blog post about this? Why was this done and what are the benefits?
I was trying to download the last version of w:c:steven-universe:File:FusionTemplateOpal.png before the current. https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/steven-universe/images/c/c4/FusionTemplateOpal.png/revision/20190125043958&format=original leads to the "broken image" placeholder.
Fandyllic, #15. It looks like Raymond1922 was typing the URL into the browser manually rather than following the links. In which case, with the way they were inputting it, there was no "?cb=" part to start the query string.
