When I type my so called life into the search bar on Muppet Wiki, why isn't it smart enough to find w:c:muppet:My So-Called Life?

Yeah, searching on Wikia has very unhelpful for as long as I can remember. Searching on large wiki's has always been a nightmare too, just try looking for something on the Pro Wrestling wiki for example, yikes.
I've always been annoyed by the lack of basic search markups like quotation marks to force exact wordings. In my experiences, the search function on other MediaWiki sites like Wikimon and KitaWiki tend to serve a fair bit better but that could just be me.

Agreed. I just think that there's a better chance for the community to convince staff that something needs improvement if there's some kind of consensus among those of us who actually manage and use wikis on a day to day basis.
User consensus won't spur the staff to do anything. No matter how much users want something, the staff won't act if it isn't profitable to do so. This isn't non-profit Wikipedia, this is for profit FANDOM. LA (T) @ 00:37, February 24, 2018 (UTC)
Also, sending users to a search results page instead of directly to the wanted article means users see more ads. So, why would they want to fix it when they can get more ad views by making users go through several pages to get to the wanted article? LA (T) @ 00:46, February 24, 2018 (UTC)

When did you join Fandom... if it was before 2010, then you must be really forgiving. If it was like 2011 or later, it's probably just because Fandom has gotten nicer.

The latter. 2013.
Here's another weird one:
http://muppet.wikia.com/wiki/Special:Search?query=the+it+crowd
This should produce the article for w:c:muppet:The IT Crowd, but it's not even on the first page of results.
Yup. Send this example to Special:Contact/bug or Special:Contact/feedback.
I know this thread is somewhat old now. However, I thought I should mention that I recently found this potential solution while updating the JS imports for a wiki I admin.
Sounds interesting, I'll have to check it out. Thanks for the head's up!

I've used that for a long time. Helps sorta but not really in the bigger picture.
Like DEmersonJMFM, I've used that tool for awhile and it is worthwhile, but ultimately only like a 5-10% improvement.
