  • Hi Plover-Y,

I saw you recently made an edit to the template in question and I was wondering if you could help me out with something. It's hard to explain, but I'm basically trying to show a users' avatar, and have the ability to place it on an article, without having to actually download and upload the avatar. The template seems to use a certain technique, and I was wondering if you happened to know how I can adjust parts of that template to make it show the avatar of a user.

    • Yes, but that's an image that's actually uploaded to the wiki. I'm referring to the avatar of a user, an image that is on the wiki, but is not an actual file.

    • The parser needs two things for inserting an image from url: domain in whitelist (taken care of globally) and an extension at the end.

So all you need to do is add #.png at the end of url:

      http://static.wikia.nocookie.net/092190f6-9112-49ce-93cb-2c87a214104f/scale-to-width-down/50
      http://static.wikia.nocookie.net/092190f6-9112-49ce-93cb-2c87a214104f/scale-to-width-down/50#.png

      Result:

      http://static.wikia.nocookie.net/092190f6-9112-49ce-93cb-2c87a214104f/scale-to-width-down/50 50#.png

This works for vignette thumbnailer in general.

But, in regards to user avatars, currently avatar urls change when user uploads a new one. So it won't always show the current avatar.

    • I had already figured it out myself, but thanks for the reply. Appreciate it!
