Heya :) Just happened to notice that you're replying to welcome messages across several different wikis. Since you appear to be new to Wikia, Inc., you may not realise that all these welcome messages are bot-created and the signatures are fake. The bot signs with the name of the last admin to edit the wiki, or if the wiki is particularly inactive, the last Wikia Staff member (i.e. paid employee). They're not an attempt to actually engage you in conversation, so replying on your own user talk/message wall page is precisely like talking to a robocall.
Also, when using a user talk page, like w:c:history:user talk:reguyla, you generally want to reply on the page of the person who's talking to you. This ensures they'll get an alert that tells them to check their talk page. If you respond on your page, the only way they'll know you're talking to them is if they happen to come back to it. You're familiar with Wikipedia, apparently, so you'll recognise this behaviour. And, like Wikipedia, some at Wikia try to have their cake and eat it by keeping the conversation on one user talk page, but manually putting something like "Please return to my talk page" onto their correspondent's page. Whichever method you use, it's important to do something that trips your correspondent's message alert.
If, on the other hand, you're at a wiki that employs the Message Wall — like this one — you'll get alerts wherever the message begins. So if you wanted to reply to this message, I'll get an alert about it and return to this very spot. That's obviously quite different than Wikipedia, and some wikis really prefer Message Walls for that reason. But there are a variety of technical reasons why other wikis hold on to the older user talk pages, so a good skill to have is knowing how to respond in both environments.
Thanks, I suspected they were automated but wasn't sure so I responded so I didn't seem impolite. The signature wasn't clearly a bot so I thought it was better to err on the side of caution than to have people thinking I was being rude. I appreciate the info.
I really wouldn't be concerned about Jimbo. This site doesn't make him (much?) money since he doesn't actually do anything here, ever since being kicked out as the CEO.
I'm also sorry about the enwiki ban, though there's nothing I could do about it. Hopefully some of the admins will stop taking their volunteer commitments so seriously and open up to constructive criticism - it's not like there's any chance they'll lose their adminship anyway. One can hope...
Yeah maybe but I don't feel comfortable editing knowing that there is a changing in desire for editors to be outed with their employers. As for my ban on ENWP. Since they are more interested in perpetuating the cycle of abuse with the admins I don' want to edit there anyway. If they don't care about corrupt admins acting abusively, there isn't a place for me there and that is no longer the project I signed up for.
I'm curious... if you don't think there's a place for you there, why the socks and continued protest of your ban? Kind of like WP:DFTT, Don't feed the admins. If they are such abusive people as is suggested, and get their feeling of importance off of that abuse, then continuing to remind them about it would probably only reinforce their behaviour. Not saying that all admins are like that, though there are certainly some that spend a disproportionate amount of time on the drama side of the project.
To be honest I hate bullies and I was banned by a group of bullies for criticizing bullies. The vast majority of the admins on that site are exempt for policy and I was critical of that. I also do not like being used as a symbol to the community of what will happen if they question admin authority. It seems like you are at least somewhat familiar with my situation over there so I guess that's a good thing. BTW, I like the idea of DFTA, I might draft something up.
Hello. I do not believe we have had the pleasure of talking, but I do not intend to make this into a conversation. I am kindly requesting that from this point onwards, you will not mention your bans on Discord or IRC. Derailing other people's forum threads, taking pot shots at admins, and generally looking for an argument are all not appropriate behaviour for Community Central. At this point, your behaviour constitutes harassment. Henceforth, should you mention your bans on IRC or Discord, you will be reported to the admins or Wikia staff, and may incur sanction on Wikia itself. I will not be responding to any messages here, and remember, no further mention of your bans on Discord or IRC will be tolerated. The administrators of Community Central have been notified of this message. Thank you for your understanding.
Typical! When it comes to helping the victim of bullying and harassment you can't do anything;, you're hands are tied; you're glad to threaten the victim to make sure that abusive conduct stays off the grid and out of the sight of potential sponsors of Wikia. Keeping an editor with hundreds of thousands of edits and who is in good standing on Wikia is of no importance whatsoever.
When it comes to helping the bullies and harassers to enforce a BAN that should never have been imposed, is not valid and was only done as a favor to the friend on the WMF projects, there is nothing you can do and I should just simply live it it, keep it to myself and not try to change it and live with being bullied. A truly pathetic response from someone who should be trying to fix the situation not threatening the victim.
If people want me to stop talking about it Callofduty4 then the way to do that would be to unban me on IRC and Discord and let the time served be the punishment so I can get back to editing. Because a ban imposed on me as a bullying and harassment tactic as a favor to a friend on another project SHOULD NOT cost the Wikia projects an admin and high output editor.
Look I don't know you and this is going to sound pretty bad because frankly I am pissed and don't care.
If you or the other staff members actually cared about fixing this situation you would address the mods or at the very least help mediate the dispute between the 2 parties. Instead, here we are, with you threatening the victim without even bothering to ask me for my side of the story first. So needless to say I am unimpressed.
If you and the other Wikia staff cared about keeping editors/admins like me you would do something about the unacceptable Community central mods bullying and harassing community members. But you don't and instead you come here and blame the victim, an editor in good standing in the site because that is easier than dealing with the mods. Its funny how no one at Wikia can do anything to help until it comes time for you to defend a mod or support them in bullying a community member out of Wikia.
Don't worry about me commenting here or editing Wikia (the new Fandom name is childish and stupid BTW) for that matter anymore. Based on your response as a Wikia staff member I can clearly see that my efforts as a community member in good standing and admin/editor on multiple wikis with hundreds of thousands of edits are of no importance to anyone.
PS, this should never have even devolved to this point but unfortunately you have Wikia mods who are doing favors for their friends on other wikis that don't like me and have asked me to be blocked here. So you will excuse me if I am less than thrilled about having a Wikia staff member come here and threaten me with blocks or sanctions when you are not willing to even consider that there are issues with your moderation team and their association to AlexZ from the WMF.
Please stop trolling here or you will get banned here too. I had hoped that you would finally give up on wikis after your WMF ban but I see you here stirring things up too, if you continue bringing up your bans I will report the Military Wiki and try to have it deleted as its basically a spam wiki with no useful content. What the hell are you talking about? I am building a useful wiki. So if you want to complain about how the military wiki is [insert whiny excuse here] then go ahead and if the Wikia staff delete it then so be it. But any idiot can see that it's not spam. Having said that, I know you "know people" on Wikia and I know that there are some that would gladly do whatever you want even if it violates the rules. So please, besides right here and now, please show me where I have mentioned anything about my abusive WMF ban that was only done to bully me out of Wikipedia because I was vocal in my belief that the volunteer admins (like you) should have to follow the rules like editors instead of be exempt from them.
