Hi Lucas, not sure if you know me, but I'm a content moderator on the Fast and Furious Wiki. The reason I'm contacting you: the reason I'm contacting you is because I disagree with the current management of the wiki, MJLogan95, whilst not trying to defame him, seems to be a bit power hungry based on his actions. Every time an edit is made, he is always either deleting it or rolling it back. I've made edits recently such as removing broken links, and then it is rolled back to the version with broken links, I don't think many of my edits have ever lasted, except for creating pages.
Additionally, he seems to have a sense of "my way only", meaning the wiki can only be his way. That is evident by the countless suggestions I have made (such as fixing the navigation bar to include the later films and the TV show, or by reorganising the navigation bar so there is room for everything, or renaming pages for certain vehicles (for example one page is called 2010 bentley continental gt vorsteiner br9 edition when it would make a lot more sense to just call it 2010 Bentley Continental and have the details of the car within the article, but that was rolled back, or even renaming pages such as Fast & Furious 9 to it's official title Fast 9).
I've actually noticed a reduced number of users editing at the wiki, and I'm not saying that is due to MJLogan, but I feel that if there was a more friendly attitude on the wiki more users would feel free to edit. A lot of pages have also been locked, refraining users from being able to edit them and for a community that is supposed to be for everyone to edit it's not exactly allowing that.
The reason I want Admin and Bureaucrat rights is to try and balance out the wiki, by having two power users there, it can ensure that no one user is in command, currently the wiki is not very public friendly so I want to revamp it so more people are inspired to come and edit there rather than be warded away by the autocratic nature of it at the moment. THere are also a lot of things that need to be fixed on the wiki but can't be done without bureaucrat and admin rights and MJLogan never fixes them and at times can go completely silent on messages but will be seen editing. Or sometimes even just disappears for long periods of time. By having multiple active admins it can ensure that the wiki is always watched over so that users can contact someone if they need help with the wiki.
I know a few of the above points seem a little self centred, but they are all underlying points in a larger discussion.
First of all, thanks for reaching out to voice all your concerns in such detail. Based on what you mention and what I have observed from the wiki, it seems to me that there is not too much communication going on, so I can understand why you would be frustrated.
That being said, within my role I cannot make direct decisions on the administration of a wiki, given that MJLogan95 is an active administrator. I would not be able to demote/promote admins based on a conversation that we have here. That could only happen if the entire community weighs in and makes a public decision, but even then, this is an extreme scenario that I think we would all prefer to avoid.
At the moment, I would say the ideal course of action would be for you to open a conversation with MJLogan95 on F&F Wiki where you can raise all these issues, as sincere as you have been here. I get that this may be a frustrating step if some of your messages haven't replied to previously, but I would still encourage that you try this, and then we can see what happens next. I will also be raising what you have said with MJLogan myself and hope we can have more of a dialogue happening there - and I'm happy to act as a mediator on this.
Again, thanks for mentioning all this, as it shows that you care a lot about the wiki.
Just to clarify: "THere are also a lot of things that need to be fixed on the wiki but can't be done without bureaucrat and admin rights and MJLogan never fixes them and at times can go completely silent on messages but will be seen editing. Or sometimes even just disappears for long periods of time."
Yes, there is a lot of work to be done, especially on older pages. They were locked by myself and Lily Ford due to excessive vandalism, and Lily has soon left the wiki. I don't actively go into every page that needs fixing, but if it is addressed to me, I address the situation. I always respond to messages left to me; there is only ONE message I did not reply to (about renaming the page of a vehicle) because I had undergone double eye surgery & therefore was entirely offline for almost two weeks. While I don't edit every single day, I'm never absent; I'm on wiki every single day, and anytime I get a message, I respond to it.
I'm sorry you feel this way Daniel, I never intend to make you feel as if the wiki is 'power hungry.' You discussed adminship earlier on and I gave you content moderator privileges; being a content mod allows you to access the locked pages as well. I vetoed the name change of 'Fast & Furious 9' to 'Fast 9' because Fast 9 isn't the official title; it's F9 in N.A. & Fast & Furious 9 internationally as of right now, and you just replied "Oh ok", indicating that you had accepted that answer. I look forward to carrying on this conversation with you on our wiki, and once again, I apologize if you've felt alienated in any way.
Hi Playsonic2, good to have you on board! If there's ever anything I can do to help the don't hesitate to leave a message on my talk page or contact me on our IRC. Thanks! Ayrehead02 (talk) 10:01, May 20, 2019 (UTC)
