Two design questions Edit

Hi Joe, I'd like to add the new "Alien Swarm Wiki" logo to our front page, but cannot figure out how to do that. I'd also like to add a third column to the right which would be called "Featured Campaign" where we would cover custom content like the Tears for Tarnor campaign. I also wanted to add an "Alien Swarm News" section below that. Is there a Wikia resource that explains how to do this? --Basique 16:11, September 17, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks figured out the wiki logo bit and already updated it. I noticed that the Dragon Age Wiki and the Mass Effect Wiki, have a third column, or at least one on the right, but I couldn't figure out how to create one. Also since we finally reached consensus on the skin updated I was wondering if you could apply it now. --Basique 17:37, September 17, 2010 (UTC)

Image upload question Edit

How do I edit the licensing dropdown list in order to add custom Company themed templates, specifically Valve and Black Cat Games? --Basique 16:22, September 17, 2010 (UTC)

Nevermind, found it at MediaWiki:Licenses. --Basique 16:34, September 17, 2010 (UTC)

New skin Edit

Thanks again for updating our skin Joe. One minor issue with the new skin, some text is showing up black against the dark background. Like when adding new categories to a page. --Basique 20:10, September 17, 2010 (UTC)

Also I need help formatting the front page, I was able to create a black background in one section by using table formatting, but that's just a kludge. I need to figures out how to make the entire background behind the main page's content black. --Basique 01:46, September 18, 2010 (UTC)
Hey there Joe, the skin issue only shows up in one spot, the categories in edit mode. The text shows up dark on a dark background making the category text invisible. That's pretty much it, I haven't noticed any other issues. See image file here. --Basique 11:57, September 22, 2010 (UTC)

The StarCraft Wiki is having a skin problem (too?). The old version of the customized Monaco skin disappeared last week, and I had to reimpose it as standard. But now the wiki has a white skin, and I'm not even sure which one it's using (the new look? Monaco new?). In any event, the wiki is supposed to have white text on a dark skin, so quite a few pages, templates, etc look messed up.

Since I have very little idea of what's going on, I don't know what needs fixing or even how to identify the problem. PSH aka Kimera 757 (talk) contribs) 22:23, September 22, 2010 (UTC)

Traffic Stats Edit

  • Is there a way to check the traffic stats for a particular wiki, or add a counter? I am very curious to know the numbers on the Mafia Wars Wiki.

League of Legends Wiki Skin Edit

Hey Joe is there any manual, or any way I can get any sort of help in the LoL Wiki, I'm having some troubles trying to adapt the new skin to the site colors. - KazMx (Message me! E-Mail me! 75 Edits! ) 02:45, September 25, 2010 (UTC)

Gearspedia Edit

Hello JoePlay long time no talk. Gearspedia have grown a lot since the last few weeks, but still have the activity problem. But I have a request, would you update Geaspedia skin and change our logo using this image that just says “Gearspedia” under the Lancer (Gun). I have yet to come up with a idea for a new background though. Please and thank you. BTW their is no timetable for this project since GoW 3 is coming out next year.--Chairman Jack the Black 14:14, September 25, 2010 (UTC)

Blocking unregistered users Edit

I'll like to set the Wiki defaults so that only registered users can edit pages, how exactly would I do that? --Basique 15:28, September 30, 2010 (UTC)

No Admins at the FEAR wiki. Edit

Hello, JoePlay. There has been an incident at the FEAR wiki. I used to be admin, but left due to inactivity. The other admins also faded out, so it was left to Thegod333 to run the place. It ends up that he not only deleted our user pages, but our talk pages as well, And, he banned us. I appealed to all former admins and that is when I found out that he deleted and blocked all the other ones. He found my pleas for help and of course, deleted them and blocked my IP. He promptly resigned his position at the wiki, leaving nobody in charge. If you could make me sysop and bureaucrat, as well as unblocking me, I will be able to restore IP and pages. I spend most of my time at the Thief wiki. Thank you, Big McLargeHuge 19:14, October 3, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks one million! Big McLargeHuge 21:54, October 4, 2010 (UTC)

IP Check Edit

JoePlay. Since the staff are the only ones who can check IPs of users, I really could use an IP check on a user over at the Mass Effect Wiki. This person has repeatly caused trouble and has repeatly violated the community guidelines, and even when asked to stop. He has already been banned once, and I just want to check the IPs used by this person becuase I have two that have made similar edits along the lines that he did. The user is Sentenal01, and the IPs are and I really just want to know if the user has used these IPs or not. If this isn't an inappropiate request, then fell free to dismiss it. However could you respond on my talk page here at Community Central, or if this needs to go on my page at the ME Wiki then that's fine. Thanks in advance. Lancer1289 16:33, October 19, 2010 (UTC)

Ok then. Thanks again JoePlay. Lancer1289 17:09, October 19, 2010 (UTC)

Logos and Points Edit

Hi. With the new skin, both the Home and Halloween wikia lost their logos. Someone suggested that you might be able to help us with new ones. Could you? Also, can you help implement the user contribution point system on them - or point me to someone who can? Thank you. -- CocoaZen 04:05, October 21, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks! The reuse of the old logos is fine. If you've got good ideas for alternatives that will be fine too! Yes, by "points" I probably meant the "achievements" system, I'll follow-up via Special:Contact. Thanks again! -- CocoaZen 00:50, October 22, 2010 (UTC)

Vanquish Giveaway Edit

Hey Joe,

Will there be a realease of names of winners of the tag line contest by any chance? I am curious to see who beat me out! 8)

Adding a couple of MediaWiki items Edit

On MediaWiki:Wiki-navigation on the StarCraft Wiki, I wanted to add Create New Page and What Links Here to the tools section. I don't know how to add the first item, however, and as for the second one, it isn't working properly. I was hoping you could help me out a little there. PSH aka Kimera 757 (talk) contribs) 23:19, October 22, 2010 (UTC)

It worked! By the way, do you know what happened to Special: SiteScout? PSH aka Kimera 757 (talk) contribs) 14:35, October 23, 2010 (UTC)
And now it doesn't work. I don't use it everyday, but I just used it, and it only links to MediaWiki.css. PSH aka Kimera 757 (talk) contribs) 23:18, November 7, 2010 (UTC)

Template:FacebookGameWikis Edit

Hi! I would like to add the following to the Template:FacebookGameWikis page: BRAAAINS Ninja Warz Office Wars Wiki

Thanks! Funny Kelpie 06:10, October 26, 2010 (UTC)

Re: Platinum Badge Promo Image Edit

Hi JoePlay.

First off, I'm not angry about this, since I understand it was a mistake caused by a lack of communication. I'm willing to forgive it, and I'm just glad that the staff was so quick to realize their mistake and to apologize for it.

As to your question... Truth be told, I'm not usually "the guy" that handles the mainpage layout so I hesitate to green-light changes to it without some discussion. I would suggest talking to A morris her talk page), or Dharden (his talk page); they are The Sims Wiki's main active bureaucrats at the moment. I copied your message onto their talk pages so they should be getting back to you regarding it pretty soon.

Have a good day! -- LostInRiverview talk · blog 20:24, October 26, 2010 (UTC)

Fourth and fifth level editing... Edit

I recently discovered, as a result of the new skin, that fourth and fifth level sections don't have an edit button. For some pages, this makes editing very inconvenient.

Do you know why it was removed? Can that functionality be restored? PSH aka Kimera 757 (talk) contribs) 23:16, October 27, 2010 (UTC)
