Hi, Iggyvolz. You mentioned that your bot could fix up the help. To avoid breaking up that fantastic debate, I thought I'd post here. So, I'd be interested in fixing w:c:dinotopia. If "you" could do that, it would be much appreciated! :D
Do we really need to bother? I haven't properly edited the site for a month or more. I've never had a user on there that actually has replied to me anyway; only one or two has edited in the past two months. Plus the other admin would agree, I know. ;)
I really need a bot flag for a project that large. See Help:Bots for information. I put a discussion up at the Community Portal, let that sit for a few days, if there's no comment I'll request a bot flag.
You can't enable it, it's actually a special program that you can download here. You'll need to set it to your wiki in Tools -> Preferences, but other than that, it works perfectly fine! You have to log in to use it, and be an admin of the wiki you are editing on to use the auto-save feature.
Yeah, I was asking specifically about Message Wall, because that's a project that I'm personally involved in. The 1.19 upgrade is a different project, and as you know, it's a big one. That's important, and I know that people are doing a lot of work on it. Just doesn't happen to be my area.
^This. I've also noticed that it seems more likely occur if you put <tag><a tag inside of a tag></tag and then try to edit the message after posting. It's not 100% reproducible, but I'd say it happens at least 1 out of 10 times for me.
Oh, thanks for telling me about this. Sorry if you've reported this before; it's the first time I've heard of it. We'll take a look at it and see what we can do.
If you guys are seeing other Message Wall bugs, please feel free to let me know -- but let's do it on my Message Wall, rather than here. I don't know if Iggyvolz is thrilled to be getting notifications about this thread. :)
Okay, an engineer is going to work on the nowiki and source-tag problems today; if all goes well, we could have the fixes out next week. Thanks for being patient -- I know that it's important to be able to talk about wikitext, especially here on Community Central.
^ Awesome, I would love for message wall to stop eating my nowiki tags and such. Also, I hope you'll make <syntaxhighlight> tags work on Message Wall as well. I frequently use Message Wall to discuss JS/CSS, and without syntax highlight it's harder to read :(
Okay, we'll see what we can do... This turned out to be a harder problem than we could figure out yesterday, so we won't have this fixed next week, but we're looking into it. Thanks for showing us these examples.
Yeah, we released a lot of 1.19 bug fixes this week. Unfortunately -- the wikitext and HTML bugs in Message Wall posts are harder to fix than we thought. The css one is especially tough. We're going to keep working on them. Sorry it's taking a while; they're still on the active list of things to do.
Hi there. I just saw your posts on Admin Forum:Disable image name on hover. I'm just posting on your wall to tell you that if you're still interested, I can put together a script and a template for you that does what you're asking for.
What you're asking for is most definitely possible, and is actually really quite easy to do.
// Puzzle images script -- By Matthew2602// Direct inquiries to [[w:Message wall:Matthew2602]]
You can't have this script load for all of your users automatically, because doing so would violate the ToU, so your users will have to add it to their wikia/monobook.js themselves. You can put it where ever you want in the Mediawiki namespace (eg. a subpage of Mediawiki:Common.js) or as a subpage of your userpage, as long as the page name ends in .js . Where ever you put it, update Template:Puzzle images/preload with:
// Puzzle Images script
importScript('the page where you put the script');
The images won't show if the user does not have the script installed. Instead, there will be a link to install the script into their own wikia/monobook.js.
@Rappy I could have set href and title to an empty string and then deleted the methods that Wikia uses to load lightbox (two for backwards compatibility, because Wikia uses a different object for Lightbox in 1.16 than they do in 1.19), but doing what I did kills all the birds with one stone. :P
