Hello. I've heard you're a good staff member. I would like to ask: can Fandom accounts get blocked globally for copyright infringement? By this, I mean uploading copyrighted images to wikias without the owners permission or using wikia to give links to infringing or pirated material.
Who would get hit with the takedown notice? Me or a fandom staff member? And if accounts do get blocked for infringement, how long do the blocks last?
If that can answer partly your questions, usually, copyright issues are taken very seriously, and can indeed lead to a global block according to Help:Copyright, which says "Repeated copyright violations can lead to loss of user rights (if any are present and necessary to be removed), blocking, the loss of your account, or even the closure of your wiki."
Native American and Library of Congress Vocabulary - this page is not spam. In no way was I marketing this page to be that way. This an informative post based on heavy research and intended to inform people of the pressing issue. The post is based on fact and I am not really sure why this was categorized as such. I am an MLIS student currently and I am quite aware of the subject at hand. Please explain your reason for flagging this as such when this had nothing to do with "spamming" anyone. Everything is based on research and includes articles that relate to what is being described. Thank you.
Hey, there is no block that I see associated with your account. It is possible it might be an IP block instead. If you are using a VPN or dynamic pool, you run the risk of being assigned an IP previously blocked already.
Sorry for the delay! This is one of those situations where IP blocks won't help much :(
Most the accounts are using a VPN it would appear. If a range can be found, blocking definitely wouldn't hurt. As more accounts come up, you're welcome to poke me and I can look and see if there is another range to add.
For the most part, it's going to be one of those tedious things of blocking/reverting over and over again. Has staff switched uploading to autoconfirmed on the wiki yet?
That's ok! Um I'm not sure. I do know that a fellow VSTF, Anoop protected "Special:AllPages". Then a staff member, CzechOut did some IP blocking. But even after all that was done we got attacked again, I believe. Everything is running together in my head now since we just kept being bombarded.
Hi. I'm sorry if I come off as rude, I don't mean to. We know all that. We didn't engage with the trolls at all. We reported right to the VSTF and I reported on the channels. I asked Icier for additional help since it seemed no one was active at said time. When things weren't getting better I sent wikia a message and we finally received some help. That's all.
User GreedyBillyBob333 on the r2da wikia keeps claiming that I'm the one along with a bunch of other community members to be the one whose been sending his staff "death threats"
We exposed a member of their staff team for doing innapropriate things to minors and they've been counter claiming and attempting to derail us because someone made multiple accounts called "clownn mods" to send them hate
Somebody keeps trying to vandalize a wiki page and this very same person has done it a few times now. I think Icier banned them once but then they just used a new IP. Can this page me protected so that only the admins and I can edit it? This is the link.
I blocked the IP. There is no method of protecting a page for sysops and yourself only. There are three tiers of protection available per Help:Page_protection. Protecting to sysop would prevent you from editing since you aren't an admin.
Additionally, I don't have authority to fulfill protection requests since I am not an administrator of the wiki. If you are interested in gaining administrator rights, you should check out Adoption:Requests.
