  • in case you didn't know, community guidelines set two weeks minimum. that's what my predecessors decided on, and i certainly wasn't around when that happened.

    • Thanks, just thought 2 weeks was a bit heavy-handed, that's all. I don't think the guy refused to respond in that instance, just that he genuinely didn't see those messages (Fandom doesn't always have the best notification system).

Regarding the guidelines, if they were drawn up before even your time at the wiki, a community review of those would probably be beneficial, especially if a lot of past users have moved on.

  • copypasting what i wrote in discord:

hi. mass effect wiki just finished migrating into UCP. slideshows are apparently borked (unclickable, not respecting widths="" parameters), also custom themes.css common.css implementations for the main page has messed up output under the new platform. not sure if these will resolve themselves after a while or if they need to be brought to attention

      Loading editor
    • Thanks for notifying me. I believe the slideshow widths issues is being looked into already, but I'll take a closer look at that portal css tomorrow, and try and figure out what's going on there.

    • misspoke earlier, mixed up the css locations.

anyway, thanks for the hole plugging, no idea why the missing div went unnoticed before. will also take a look at the portal code, but given priorities elsewhere, i don't think i can attend to it anytime soon.

also, there seems to be a javascript problem fandomwide - discordintegrator not working on the wiki and on some other wikis including this one, but it appears to be fine on others

    • Hi there, sorry for the delay in responding.

The portal code is pretty complex, and looks like it'll take a good while to figure out what CSS changes are needed, as well as removing/tweaking other broken JS.

It might actually be a good idea to move away from the portal setup and use a simpler layout for the content navigation, such as the image gallery "button"-type menus used on a lot of other wikis. I'm not sure how strongly the community feels about keeping the portal, so do you think they would be willing to go this route?

On the bright side, the Discord JS seems to be working again.

    • was preoccupied on and offsite, also apologies for late response.

seeing as fandom is apparently still dealing with more immediate ucp issues (self-links not bolding, for one), i imagine fixing the portal code up for ucp standards can be tabled for some future date while something less complex can be substituted in its place. the current code's never really gone since they'll still be in page histories anyway for potential revisits.

i've emailed the admins who didn't formally quit regarding the ucp upgrade and it seems one of them plans to implement some solutions regarding our wonky tabview-based weapon articles (it was her brainchild anyway). most of them's off doing real life stuff, so i think i'll continue/modify her planned tabber approach if she's MIA after a few months.

  • Sorry for making a post in two separate areas.

I've been attempting to work on the "Grounded" wiki but there are some things that I cannot do and need Administrator privileges. Is it possible you could help me out with that? I tried adding you on discord but it said you are not accepting requests. You can add me though Bolt#6012

  • Hello, again. I'm working on some inter-wiki connectivity and reverting vandalism, but a few of the following pages are currently locked. I was hoping you could make these changes for me.

In Common.css, on lines 879-887, could you change the background property for .rs-header-icon-rsc to #333 and the background property for .rs-header-icon-rsc:hover to #555 ?

    • The same changes to Common.css on lines 2492-2499.

Atop the Money making guide is a template that says {{External|rs}} . Could you change it to say {{External|rs|rsc=Money Making Tips}} ?

Also on that article, Rappy 4187 made an edit that was probably an attempt to revert vandalism, but actually made things incorrect. From the right side of the comparison view:

    • Line 15: the template is supposed to say: 10,000
    • Line 40: the template is supposed to say: 1380
    • Line 49: the template should be grabbing the price for the item Fire talisman rather than the far more expensive item listed
    • I don't know about the changes afterward related to {{#dpl: because I haven't looked at it too closely, but I wouldn't be surprised if Rappy's intention to revert vandalism was actually a revert of a revert and his whole edit should be scrapped.

Lastly, when I go to rsc.wikia.com, I get redirected to w:c:runescapeclassic and I love that shortcut. I was wondering if the same could be added to rsc.fandom.com ?

Thank you for any assistance you can provide on these.

    • Hi Random, I've made the changes to the common.css pages. I think your line numbers for RS Wiki were incorrect, though I applied the same change, but just check to make sure.[1]

Regarding Rappy's edit, I undid the mentioned changes, but I've sent him a message just to check there wasn't a specific reason behind the others.

    • Wow, I was a fair bit off on those second line numbers. On the one you linked, you mistakenly changed the "color" property instead of the "background" for .rs-header-icon-rsc. Could you change the background to "background: #333;" and the color to "color: #fff;" ? You got it right on the .rs-header-icon-rsc:hover and also both related changes on the other wiki.

Also, could you make that other change to the template atop Money making guide ? That template provides the inter-wiki connectivity for the reader. —Random User123 (talk) 17:42, April 22, 2020 (UTC)

    • Whoops, missed that template one. Both pages are fixed now.

  • Hello. I'm trying to use variables within some templates on w:c:runescapeclassic, but it seems that the appropriate parser function hooks are not setup in that community. Specifically, I'm referring to vardefine, vardefineecho, var, varexists, and var_final, which are used in similar communities (1, 2). Could you assist me in this matter or forward me to the appropriate person?
