Ogg Handler Extension Edit

Could you please install the ogghandler extension at w:c:pikminfanon? We need it for the level music and possibly more. Thank you!

Sir Pikmin

Please check your emails. I, andrewrox (as an IP) have a message for you, and people seem to be ignoring it. - Andrewrox as an IP.

My greetings again, Angela. I have very recently created the Secrets of Droon Wiki here: [1], but now I begin to think its name too long and rather difficult to search for, I fear. Is there any way one such as you could possibly alter the name to perhaps, Droon Wiki or something like that, something shorter? Thank you ! Ralnon 16:50, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

About Bioarkistot Edit

Hello again. I'd like to ask for some help on Bioarkistot.

First off, is there a way to have Shared Help in Finnish? I found none... Can we translate the Shared Help articles to Finnish and publish them on Bioarkistot? And can we put the text into frames of our own?

And second, do we actually have a forum (Foorumi in Finnish) there? There is no page for it, but is all required stuff available? And what coding should we put in the index (Sisällysluettelo in Finnish)? And should we move Kahvihuone (Village pump) to the Foorumi namespace?

And, should these foreign-language Bionicle wikis be linked to the four already linked together (de, en, fi, pl):

I think at least the first two should. The latter two, judging by their URLs, could also be fanon wikis or something.

Thanks already, and keep up the good work. -VezonThunder (talk) 08:13, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

Apple Wiki Edit

There is a wiki called Apple Wiki and it has no life. It is plain and I wondered if you could make me an admin on this wiki. I did the start page if you are intrested. --TDM : Always here to help but only one thing : Call me Data 16:03, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

Removing the Megapoo WikiEdit

I would like to know why you removed the Megapoo Wiki and could you re-make it? I used to be a sysop there and I know it was removed ages ago, but could you please explain why you removed it. It was edited regularly, kept vandal-free and nobody requested its removal. Please could you re-make it, as the wiki did not break any of the wiki closing policy rules. If something went wrong which I do not know about, just leave the message under this one, or on my talk page. Thanks,

No, they shouldn't, but they might be temporarily cached there. Angela@fandom (talk) 12:57, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
Oh, right. I was wondering if I could use an image previously deleted from the Sonic News Network.--Thomas Michael William Patrick Sales 10:09, 9 August 2009 (UTC)
You could ask an admin on that wiki to send you a copy since admins can view deleted images. Angela@fandom (talk) 14:18, 9 August 2009 (UTC)
Oh, I have a copy. While I'm here, is CheckUser installed here?--Thomas Michael William Patrick Sales 07:22, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
Checkuser is installed, but generally only staff can use it for privacy reasons. If you need a user checked, just drop a note to special:contact and someone will do that for you. Angela@fandom (talk) 07:24, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

American Idol Wiki Edit

Hi, I would like to take American Idol Wiki, because I have a wiki of the same topic and there is no articles in the other wiki. I want to do this because my wiki is and is shorter, so I want to pass all the info of my wiki to the new one, if it is possible, and leave a redirect. Thanks a lot!!!--Matias arana 10 17:40, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

The American-idol URL might be better for SEO rather than the version where it's all one word. Angela@fandom (talk) 14:18, 9 August 2009 (UTC)
What is a SEO???--Matias arana 10 16:38, 9 August 2009 (UTC)
SEO means "search engine optimization". What I mean is that people searching for American Idol information are more likely to find your wiki when they search in google if the wiki is than if it was Angela@fandom (talk) 01:17, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

About Bioarkistot Edit

I posted this on your talk page earlier, and now it's on Archive 20... I don't know why Special:Contact has to be used, and to ensure the links work properly, I'm posting this here:

In addition to these, I'd like to ask if the namespace "Keskustelu Bioarkistotista" (Bioarkistot talk) could be renamed "Keskustelu Bioarkistoista". That's because "Bioarkistot" is plural (it's literally "Bioarchives" in English), and, because of complex Finnish suffixes, "Bioarkistotista" is incorrect while "Bioarkistoista" is the correct form. -VezonThunder, ylläpitäjä (kesk.) 06:40, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

The reason for using special:contact is that it ensures your question will be answered. There's no such guarantee if you post on a wiki talk page.
There isn't yet a Finnish help wiki, so shared help can not be enabled, but anyone can create one and once a few Finnish speakers are involved and have said the site is ready for launch, then it could be enabled.
There is a forum at fi:Foorumi:Sisällysluettelo - is that what you meant? You could make one on any other wiki using the instructions at Help:Wiki-style forum set up (or use special:contact and someone will be able to help you do that).
I've added interlanguage links between the bionicle wikis, but it can take a couple of days before this starts working. For Dutch I used the w:c:nl.bionicle rather than w:c:nl.bionicleworld.
Keskustelu Bioarkistotista is now Keskustelu Bioarkistoista.

Publicity Edit

Hello, friend Angela. First, I would like to personally thank you for taking the time to help me with the blocked IP Address issue; thus far, nothing of the sort has yet occurred again. Please contact me if I am of any use to you at Wikia at all; simply ask your request and it shall be done. However, I beg you to answer my question first: Please, what might be the best method for publicizing your wiki, if it is very new, other than inviting? Is it permitted to message Wikipedian users who seem to have some knowledge about the subject of the wiki and invite them? Wikipedia has long held a certain appeal for me, yet that was long before I knew the existence of Wikia. Nonetheless...Please, why would messaging others on their talk pages asking them of Wikia be considered "spam" by so many, if neither one objects and it does not influence Wikipedia at all. Could one not even provide one link to a Wikia project? I have long respected the rules of Wikipedia, and I still find it to my very great liking, yet this confuses me, as I would not call it spam. What is the exact relationship between Wikipedia and Wikia, then? Does none exist? Does Wikipedia cut itself off from Wikia entirely, with both functioning independently yet ignoring the other? Please enlighten me. Thanks so much, Angela, for taking the time! Ralnon (talk) 16:27, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

Have you seen the help page about promotion? Messaging Wikipedians can be risky sometimes as they might see any sort of mass-messaging as "spam" even where the message is wanted or relevant. My recommendation would be to leave a single message on the relevant WikiProject talk page rather than messaging every Wikipedian involved in that project. The companies that run Wikia and Wikipedia are not linked. In terms of the content and linking between the two, that's up to the communities of each, not to the companies operating the projects. Different people within the Wikipedia community have different views, which means that you can get mixed messages when trying to link to Wikia from Wikipedia. In most cases it's fine, but just be careful and be prepared to respond to any complaints that Wikipedia users might make about it. Angela@fandom (talk) 18:29, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

Alas, Angela, I was threatened with a block at Wikipedia for messaging other users whom I saw constructively contributing to pages relating to the subject in question, quite suddenly and unexpectedly as well. I was genuinely surprised; always on Wikipedia have I stroven to be courteous and fair to other editors, and my messages were brief, concise to the point and civil. Besides, the majority of those whom I contacted were merely IP Addresses or users lacking user pages and talk pages, whom I thought would perhaps be interested in editing on a wiki rather than on Wikipedia, where articles concerning the subject are extremely few, mostly stubs. I was not active on Wikipedia anyway, and I certainly failed to imagine administrator attention would be drawn so quickly (and, indeed, drawn at all). All my messages informing them of a wiki based on the subject were swiftly deleted and I was told that I would shortly be considered for banning. However, I beg you not to think too poorly of me, as I indeed refrained from editing altogether on Wikipedia after the warnings, instead trying to explain and reason for many hours with the administrators whom had contacted me, to little avail. Of course there is no need to go much into detail, but it seemed that they did not think much of Wikia, and suggested they contact other sysops they were familiar with to further explain to me. I mean not to complain, but even I admit that I wondered why the administrator minded so much over what I had deemed a relatively petty issue. I have since stopped editing there at all, in the hopes that I might one day be forgiven for what they hinted was great damage to Wikipedia itself, but I am still concerned by it at times, when I flip through wiki after inactive wiki and ponder how much both Wikipedia and Wikia might benefit if they were sister projects, or at least tolerated a few links to the other. I have seen many links to Wikia from Wikipedia sites, but the one I placed was enough to cause great dissent and displeasure for many there, called "spam", though, in all truth, I barely know the definition of the word itself. Then, Angela, may I ask these last questions: Is the very link to Central Wikia at Wikipedia's Wikia article permitted, and if so, why, exactly; is it not itself merely a nexus, a portal and a bridge to all the others? Can links or references to Wikia exist on Wikipedia at all; if not, should not anyone who placed a link, on talk pages or articles, be blocked? Can links exist from Wikia to Wikipedia, and if so, why? Than you so much for taking the time; I truly appreciate it. Do not fear, for I do not think I will bother you any time soon at all, so you may have some peace of mind here. Again, thank you. Ralnon (talk) 20:46, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

Wikipedia's definition of spam is very broad, and covers things like sending a message to more than one person at the same time. If you're threatened with a block, it's best not to argue on Wikipedia about it as it just inflames the situation and can lead to even harsher results, such as permanent blacklisting of the link you were trying to add. It doesn't mean that no links are allowed - just that a particular admin didn't like your exact actions on that day. There's also a difference between someone who is active on Wikipedia adding a link as part of a large edit they're making to improve an article and someone who doesn't edit except to add a link. The latter is likely to be seen as spam when the first one is seen as constructive editing. Angela@fandom (talk) 21:22, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

Angela, still I am confused: Does that mean, if I had, say, made at least a thousand edits there and made such a link, it would be permitted? Truly, I had meant no offense in doing so or trying to explain to the sysops; I beg you not to hold me in low regard for doing so, for I have long since learned from my mistake. I truly am very sorry if I have offended you with this, please excuse me. Again, know that if you would not wish it, nothing of this topic would ever come up here ever again. Thank you so much for all your excellent help and advice, Angela. Ralnon (talk) 21:52, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

It would not necessarily be permitted. There's no hard rule on this, but people that are community members have gained more trust so are more likely to be given the benefit of the doubt when making such as edit. Please don't worry about this. There are lots of other ways to get people to your wiki. Remember that the number one thing to do is just to add good content as this will always attract more readers than links on other sites. Angela@fandom (talk) 02:31, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

I understand far better now, Angela. My thanks for taking the time to answer my irritating questions; doubtless you are still disturbed at my actions there, and that of course I understand, but never again would I do so. Do understand, however, that I was merely intending to help both Wikipedia and Wikia, whatever my actions truly were. I have wasted enough of your limited and valuable time here, and I shall not do so again; again, I regret to have brought up such an issue, but I will not do so again. My best wishes for you, Wikipedia and Wikia, Ralnon (talk) 15:49, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

I like Wikia becuse it allows you to edit sites that are of interest to you I really like the create a wikia feature becuse its more farer and gives editor the chance to become admins but I find my wikia and others ae slowed down by google advertising This wouldnt be a problem but Google Use a Program called Google Analtycs which is a script hijacker this means it can slow down websites by redirecting bandwidth for advertisments --Owen1983 23:33, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

If you're logged on, you shouldn't see ads (except on the home page). Google Analytics is a different program which provides stats about each wiki. AbuseFilter Edit

I would like to follow-up on the discussion on the installation of AbuseFilter in RuneScape Wiki. The following is the response you gave in response to my e-mail:

Until Wikia moves to a later version of MediaWiki, the AbuseFilter will not work too well as we need to use an older version. It is currently in testing on a couple of wikis and may be available more widely later on.
For protection of an entire namespace though, there are other options. A recent feature we added was that anonymous users must complete a captcha when they create a mainspace talk page. Do you want something similar to be applied to the exchange namespace?

Since Wikipedia is running on MediaWiki 1.16alpha-wmf (r55629), and AbuseFilter is installed in Wikipedia, I don't see the "need to use an older version". Since Wikia recently upgraded to MediaWiki 1.15.1, were you referring to some other version? It would be deeply appreciated if you clarified this statement. Could you tell us the wiki the extension is being tested on?

CAPTCHA doesn't suit our needs since we want to restrict how a page in the Exchange namespace is edited, not the person editing it. CAPTCHA only applies to edits made by IPs and new users. We want this to apply for all users.

The pages in the namespace are specifically for holding "price data", and there is a certain way the data is stored. If the data is not formatted correctly, the page needs to be rectified so that the information is displayed correctly. In essence, each Exchange page holds data for displaying something similar to a stock market page. (See Exchange:Bones for an example.)

What we need is an extension which blocks an incorrect edit from being saved, and warns a user that the edit needs to be rectified. Looking through the installed extensions in Wikia, I noticed a couple of extensions that might suit our needs: "Regular Expression Any Text Block" or Regular Expression Spam Block.

Could you kindly advise us on the extensions and on how to prevent incorrect edits from being saved.

RuneScape Wiki

The abusefilter used on Narutopedia is an old version which was added before Wikia moved to 1.15. It is not installed on RuneScape, but the new tags which are related to this might be as those are part of MediaWiki 1.15. Captchas and RegexBlock are used to prevent spam. It's best to use special:contact to request new extensions so the issue can be properly dealt with and tracked. Angela@fandom (talk) 01:23, September 2, 2009 (UTC)

Vh1 fnafiction and rollplay wikis Edit

I accidentrly made two wikis and i am sorry, i didn't mean to make the vh1 rollplay wiki i accidently put rollplay instead of fanfiction can you please delete it for me, i want to keep the vh1 fanficiton but i dont want to keep the vh1 rollplay wiki.

My new wiki is going to be about the fanon of vh1 reality shows, such as I love money, and Rock of Love.

I came to this idea since I love money 3 was cancelled due to a contestant being involved mith a murder. Many users say that they wish they could make their own season of i love money, and then i recomended a wiki.

Last time I tried to create a wiki i was told i had to work on my other wiki, the Leona Lewis Wiki, but since then i have given two new users adminship and i wish to let them be in charge of the wiki, as i have no more i can do.

And also I did not make this wiki so i can be in charge, literally i am making it for other users who want to create a fanfiction for the wiki.

Thank you for fixing this --Redflare!Like a blazing sunin a dark universe... 19:50, September 3, 2009 (UTC)

Ok. I'll delete vh1 rollplay. Angela@fandom (talk) 01:16, September 4, 2009 (UTC)

About the suggestion of closure of abandoned Wikis Edit

Dear Angela,

Hi, I am an EVCHK user. Recently, I found that there are plenty of abandoned Chinese and foreign Wikis, which are a big waste of storage, so I want to suggest you or your staff to close these Chinese and foreign Wikis as below:

  1. 維基閱覽室 Wiki: That wiki is in Chinese, opened on the 11th of June in 2009, the owner is User:Msnhinet8. That Wiki has only got one page of portal with no content since that Wiki was created.
  2. 海綿寶寶 Wiki: That wiki is in Chinese, opened on the 13th of August in 2009, the owner is User:Msnhinet8. There are only a few pages in that Wiki and only the owner took part in that project.
  3. 維基同學會資訊 Wiki: That wiki is in Chinese, opened on the 5th of June in 2009, the owner is User:Msnhinet8. There are only a few pages in that Wiki and there are no editing history within 30 days.
  4. 台灣展覽紀錄 Wiki: That wiki is in Chinese, opened on the 3rd of July in 2009, the owner is User:Msnhinet8. There are only 5 pages in that Wiki and there are no editing history within 30 days.
  5. 送春公後代家族 Wiki: That wiki is in Chinese, opened on the 22nd of July in 2009, the owner is User:Msnhinet8. There are only 2 pages in that Wiki and there are no editing history within 30 days.
  6. Wargame info Wiki: That wiki is in English, opened on the 27th of April in 2009, the owner is User:Wargame info. That Wiki has only got one page of portal with no content since that Wiki was created.
  7. 1e Pedia Wiki: That wiki is in Chinese, opened on the 25th of April in 2009, the owner is User:Tomlee2007. There are no pages in that Wiki, but that Wiki only has got a few uploaded files. There are no editing history within 30 days.
  8. On9袁學民 Wiki: Blank Wiki. No pages are created in that Wiki.
  9. Qooper123 Wiki: Blank Wiki. No pages are created in that Wiki.
  10. Desene Animate Wiki: That wiki was opened on the 3rd of September in 2009, the owner is User:MusicMaster. Blank Wiki.
  11. 49ers Wiki: That wiki was opened on the the 3rd of September in 2009, the owner is User:Arom23. Blank Wiki.
  12. HKTKPC百科: That wiki is in Chinese, opened on the 23rd of October in 2006, the owners are User:Tp61i6m42008 and User:KaurJmeb. There are only 2 pages in that Wiki and there are no editing history within 30 days. We have discussed that in EVCHK (in Chinese), the conclusion is that Wiki is an abandoned project and it is worthless to develop that Wiki.
  13. 香港昆蟲: That wiki is in Chinese, opened on the 30th of August in 2006, the owners are User:HKInsect and User:KaurJmeb. There are only a few pages in that Wiki and there are no editing history within 30 days. We have discussed that in EVCHK (in Chinese), the conclusion is that Wiki is an abandoned project and it is worthless to develop that Wiki.
  14. 香港交通百科全書: That wiki is in Chinese, opened on the 21st of October in 2006, the owners are User:Tp61i6m42008 and User:KaurJmeb. There are only 2 pages in that Wiki and there are no editing history within 30 days. We have discussed that in EVCHK (in Chinese), the conclusion is that Wiki is an abandoned project and that project is replaced by hkbus Wiki (香港巴士大典) and hkrail Wiki (香港鐵路大典).

Besides that, I found that User:Msnhinet8 has created several of spam Wikis, please go through the problem and stop the Wiki request from User:Msnhinet8.

Finally, thank you for your help!

Best Regards,

--湯米‧提思 04:35, September 4, 2009 (UTC)

Storage is not a problem. Each of these are only a few pages and Wikia hosts many large wikis, such as LyricWiki which alone has almost 900,000 articles. Unless the wiki is problematic in some way, it's easier to leave them open. With some promotion, it's possible other people may want to adopt them in the future. I will suggest to Zeyi that she looks at the ones made by Tp61i6m42008 and Msnhinet8 as these may need to be deleted. Angela@fandom (talk) 05:48, September 4, 2009 (UTC)

rather then delete wikis it is preferred by wikia to put them up for adobtion --Owen83 19:23, September 4, 2009 (UTC)

Dear Angela,

Please help me delete him.

The wiki is redundant, unnecessary, these data backup has been completed.

In order to avoid wasting space, so I have to apply the request to delete those wiki.

  • I will check the list of wikis from Monday. Thanks for all your advice.

How do you... Edit

Hi there! I was wondering about something. How do you "squish" the main page's size, as seen here and here. I would really appreciate it (as I'm a bureaucrat at the Atlanta Wiki). --Schoolbus13 - You're Connected! - Works of Art 02:58, September 7, 2009 (UTC)

I don't know. I tried something on your mediawiki:monaco.css page but it didn't work. I suggest that you check with Uberfuzzy or send a mail to special:contact. You could also ask the admins on those wikis how they did it. Angela@fandom (talk) 04:25, September 7, 2009 (UTC) .monaco_shrinkwrap {

I tried something like that, but does Main_Page need to change to the name of the main page? Doing that didn't work.[2] (Unless caching has tricked me again...?) Angela@fandom (talk) 06:46, September 7, 2009 (UTC)
Yup, you would have to change the specified pagename, but from what you did it appears to work correctly (tested in personal CSS.) You probably experienced that lovely cache, it's getting longer to clear every day... ~Joey~ ^Talk^ 06:58, September 7, 2009 (UTC)

Users Evading Block Edit

Hello, I'm from the Club Penguin Fanon Wiki. I've noticed a number of underaged users that have been banned for TOU evasion returning under different accounts. Most notable of these two are Happyface141 returning as "HappyfaceWantsToTalk", who's originial excuse was "I'm just his messenger", but now, everyone on the wiki knows it is him. Another of the block evaders is the ten year old Metalmanager, who has returned as Ipeng. Another of the socks is MetalBluscat, a sock of Sk8rsbluscat. I have took a few screenshots of confessions from the CPFW shout box.

Thank you for your time, CanuckPeng1867 00:03, September 8, 2009 (UProof5

MetalBluscat and Happyface

Metalipengproof4 Ipengmetalproof3

Metalmanager is Ipeng

Metalmanager is iPeng

Lawful Edit

  • Happyface (HFWTT) is currently over 13 and has had his COPPA expired, which is why he is editing.
    • He's been trying to find a way to inform Wikia of his legit age for years, but he can'tr seem to send it. He has been over 13 for quite a while, legally allowing him to edit.
  • MetalBluscat actually mentioned his return, and that it isn't a TOU violation.
    • He claims that he is no longer under 13 and was released from COPPA.
  • IPeng never violated TOU to my knowledge, he was and is over 13.

Furthermore, these so-called "violaters", particularly HFWTT and IPeng, who are actually OVER 13 and shouldn't be banned anyway, are contributiing amazingly and productively to the CPFW website at which the above user has reported these discussions.

I've seen each and everyone state they were over 13, and promise that they were. However, they have no way to inform you of their actual age. It's not like they can fax you their birth certificates.

  • HFWTT, originally Happyface 414, states he lied and said he was eleven when he was in fact fourteen because he feared ridicule from others who believed he was too old for CP, the wiki's subject.
  • MetalBluscat, originally Sk8rbluscat, was banned about a year and a half ago when he was "11, almost 12", which, by now, would make him 13 and free from COPPA.
    • IPeng, originally Metalmanager has referenced the same story.

They are, as of now, over 13 and all have been over 13 for a while now, yet their original accounts are still under lockdown. We've been waiting for a long time for them to recieve their repsective old accounts back.

In fact, their original accounts, Metalmanager, Sk8rbluscat, and Happyface414 (possibly 141), should be unblocked since they are all over 13 and exempt from COPPA, as they have entered the legal age to particiapate in expanding the site.

Besides, how can you even verify anyone's age over the Internet? I say I am sixteen, and I am, but what if I claimed I was eleven and was in fact twenty one? How can you verify any of those statements by mere text? True, all the users accused were banned by COPPA due to being under thirteen, but are no longer under 13. How do you even know if the tattler, CanuckPeng1867, is over 13?

I wish to emphasize that THEY ARE INDEED OVER 13, and that they are not breaking the Terms of Use because they are over 13 and are legally editing under these reasons. They are only using alternate accounts because their originals are still banned.

Can you unban the original accounts? They're thirteen now, their TOU ban is long expired. At the very least, allow these legal editors to continue making the Club Penguin Fanon wiki a better place.

-- कछुए मशरूम! Jesus Loves You and Died for You!!  :)  :) DON'T YOU DARE QUIT BECAUSE OF WHAT I JUST TYPED!!!!!!!! 00:29, September 8, 2009 (UTC)

All legal issues need to be sent to Wikia using special:contact. I'm not going to discuss Happyface or other users here. Angela@fandom (talk) 08:40, September 8, 2009 (UTC)

I'd just like to point out at the top of your talk page you mention changing the logo in the "top-right" corner of a wiki. I think you mixed up a tiny detail (like left-right). :) Have a nice day! —Baltro [ talk · edits ] 00:59, September 8, 2009 (UTC)

Also, as nobody has gotten to this yet, could you check out and possibly delete some of these abandoned Zelda wikis? Here's the message I put on the talk page:
Hi, I'm an administrator at the English Zeldapedia, and I was wondering if we could close a few of these wikis down (the ones that are duplicates or unused). duplicate, even the title is misspelled (it's Zelda, not Zedla) only one article, the subject is nonexistent unused, duplicate of the English Zeldapedia unused, the websites it's (not written) about are hosts of Zelda anyways (rivalry) "Clone of Zelda Wiki"? I don't think a clone of any wiki is needed, and not one that's unused and inactive one article, completely unused duplicate, one article, completely unused
Thanks, —Baltro [ talk · edits ] 01:04, September 8, 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for pointing out the error. Unused wikis don't need to be deleted unless they contain harmful content or are causing problems, but if they are, please send a note to special:contact so it can be dealt with. Angela@fandom (talk) 08:40, September 8, 2009 (UTC)

General Hospital Wikia mergeEdit

Hi angela, I'm Leslie Roak and I noteced that there are two GH Wikia Sites. The one that is constantly updated ([3]) is Carly's and tghe other one by AniMate ([4]) hasn't been touched by the Admin and doensn't have many users contributing. Most articles have only been created but not completed in that wikia and there are only 19. We at [5] (Carly's wiki) has been working hard and is going under construction. I am asking you to merge them in to one (if possible) because that Wikia is hogging the spotlite. For our Prize article that we've started working on see Carly Jacks or Claudia Corinthos --Leslie Roak 23:05, September 9, 2009 (UTC)

As both wikis are active, I suggest you talk to the community there and come to an agreement about a merge. If there is consensus from both wikis that they want to become one, then Wikia can redirect one of them, but if the two want to stay separate, then that's OK too. Angela@fandom (talk) 02:44, September 10, 2009 (UTC)

Filmation Ghostbusters Wiki should be listed Edit

For whatever reason Filmation Ghostbusters Wiki isn't listed at all on searches for wikis on wikia and I'd like it on: Ghostbusters search results. This wiki is active and has 176 articles, so its not a dead wiki one pager. Thanks for your time!

I've added a link to that on the Ghostbusters page so that people can find it more easily. Angela@fandom (talk) 11:32, September 12, 2009 (UTC)

Also, every time I sign anything the thing does this: [Template fetch failed for]. Whats going on here?

It looks like substing doesn't work for cross-wiki templates. I wouldn't advice putting one in your signature. If it did work, it would add a copy of this page which I don't think is what you want. Angela@fandom (talk) 11:32, September 12, 2009 (UTC)

Yeah I didn't know what a signature meant. Now I know its the name id when signing a reply. Thanks! Devilmanozzy Talk Page 12:14, September 12, 2009 (UTC)

Please shut down an Advertising Wiki Edit

Hi, I found this as I was looking through Special:Newwikis. I remembered it from this earlier today which is now marked for deletion. Just thought I would stop by and report it so you could shut it down sometime. --Lcawte 16:47, September 12, 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for spotting it. Angela@fandom (talk) 02:07, September 13, 2009 (UTC)

Dilema on Inactive ish wiki Edit

Hi, I have a dilema, I'm a contributer on the Unforgotten Realms Wiki. We ran into a small problem with sorting out Episodes. I posted a vote in the Watercooler, but our small community of 2, Me and someone else havnt come to a conclusion. As the other user hasnt been online/voted, shall I just go with what I think? I havnt sent an adoption request yet as I have a few Projects I still need to get off the ground. There are a few things I could do with powers to clean up though. The Forum vote --Lcawte1Talk - My Wikia's list - New Wiki Watchlist 17:03, September 13, 2009 (UTC)

I suggest that you go ahead with it as there have been no objections. If people object later on when the community is larger, a new discussion could be started about it then. Angela@fandom (talk) 03:24, September 14, 2009 (UTC)

IP-ban Edit

Hi Angela,

I am unfairley (I'm sorry, English is not my native language) banned from a wiki. And as you know, I will never vandalize a page. Please can you help me.

Croon 17:33, September 15, 2009 (UTC)

Do you have any details about the ban, such as which wiki or the reasons why? It would be best to send those using special:contact if you need help from staff, but you could also try talking to another admin on the relevant wiki. Angela@fandom (talk) 01:19, September 16, 2009 (UTC)

General Hospital Wikia own by user:Carly Corinthos-Jacks Edit

She's blocking everyone that wants to help and only helping out with user:Lesie Roak. User: Car5ly8 and user:M42380 are cousins and they have been block unfairly by both of them. User: Carly Corinthos-Jacks has been blocked on wikipedia for being obess with Carly Corinthos on General hospital. Is there any way to unblock them from you?--Missmichelle 17:45, September 15, 2009 (UTC)

There's another wiki on the same topic. If there are problems with one, I recommend you use the other one and try to ignore anyone causing you problems on that wiki. Angela@fandom (talk) 01:23, September 16, 2009 (UTC)
Then I go to the other wiki and they are there too. Causing more trouble. --Missmichelle 15:06, September 16, 2009 (UTC)
Dear Angela and Michelle. I have unbloked all of the accounts by Roak. I have now ome to an agreeent with all of the users. Thank You. --Carly Corinthos-Jacks 01:07, September 19, 2009 (UTC)

RSS Twitter Feed Edit

How did you get those days, remove your username, and get those twitter images on your twitter feed? I tried it User:Tedjuh10 here, but it doesn't seem to work... I'm using this code (tried something with yahoo pipes, possibly did something wrong there).

==My Twitter Updates ([ @WikiMark])==

You can view the source of the pipe here and make a clone it. Hopefully that will work. Angela@fandom (talk) 01:23, September 16, 2009 (UTC)

Ditloids Edit

Thanks, Angela,

I had never heard of Ditloids, and they seemed somewhat odd.

Well, you learn something new every day. Thanks for the tip!

Hikipedia Edit

Hi! Would you like to host another Uncyclopedia? We have been discussing about the change of the server since we have some problems with the current one and have considered Wikia as a noteworthy option. But we would like to keep as many things as possible the way they are. Please let me know if you are interested. --Pullamosso 17:21, September 18, 2009 (UTC)

Yes, definitely. I've left a message on your talk page. Angela@fandom (talk) 15:16, September 19, 2009 (UTC)

Shutting Down of Wiki's Edit

Hi, I posted a request on Uberfuzzy's talk page to have 2 wikis closed down for reasons listed there, I dont think he saw it or hasnt taken any action. Can you review it and shut them down if you think they should be. Lcawte1Talk - My Wikia's list - New Wiki Watchlist 17:43, September 18, 2009 (UTC)

I suggest you send them to special:contact as that is monitored more often than talk pages. Angela@fandom (talk) 15:16, September 19, 2009 (UTC)

Stopping advertisement Edit

Hi it's Carly Corinthos-jacks here about General Hospital Wikia. I would like to disable advertising on my site because when a visitor sees the webpage, the formatting of the page is messed up. That is all, Thank you. --Carly Corinthos-Jacks 01:12, September 19, 2009 (UTC)

That's not possible as the ad revenue goes toward the cost of hosting the wiki. Angela@fandom (talk) 15:16, September 19, 2009 (UTC)

Can you please modify MediaWiki:Community-corner for Community Central? It uses the default text at the moment. I think that you would have a better idea about what to place there than I would. Thanks. --Michaeldsuarez (Talk) (Deeds) 13:51, September 23, 2009 (UTC)

Congratulations! Edit

Congratulations and best wishes with your new home! Would love your input on the home wikia. I hope there might be some useful content there for you too. (Unfortunately there's less than I'd like.) Anyway, enjoy! -- CocoaZen 02:09, September 26, 2009 (UTC)

Thanks! You should link to this from the real estate wiki. I looked at that one when we were buying and forgot about the home wiki. Angela@fandom (talk) 03:00, September 26, 2009 (UTC)
Great idea! I'd forgotten about the Real Estate wiki. I'll put in cross links in both directions. They don't seem to have a wikinode, and I'm not sure that's the best way to cross link anyway. I'll figure out something, but of course, better suggestions are welcome! -- CocoaZen 16:05, September 27, 2009 (UTC)

Wikia Cloak? Edit

Hello Angela, do you know where I can get a Wikia cloak for the IRC? Thanks, Ajraddatz "Raddatz to Enterprise" Age of Empires Wiki 0 Edits! 13:44, September 28, 2009 (UTC)

I wanted to know if you know how to open PFX files. I lost my password.

No, I'm sorry I don't know about PFX files. If there was an email address in your account, you can recover your password using the send password button on this page. Angela@fandom (talk) 22:48, September 30, 2009 (UTC)

Hi Pullamosso. Wikia would be happy to provide hosting for Hikipedia. Moving has some details about moving a wiki to Wikia. If you have any questions about that, or special requests, the best way is to email me (angela at Angela@fandom (talk) 15:15, September 19, 2009 (UTC)

I would prefer talking here so that every Hikipedian (Moi mussukat!) could follow. There are surely things that will change inevitably and naturally we are scared to death because of them. Could you tell what those things will most likely be? --Pullamosso 12:12, September 20, 2009 (UTC)
There are basically 3 things that would change.
  1. The URL would be (you can choose any available subdomain)
  2. Adverts would be added, but logged in users would not see these except on the home page
  3. The default skin may need to change to monaco some time in the future.
Some users may need to change their username. That would only happen if there is an active user at Wikia with the same name already. You have over 9000 user accounts, so this would affect some people. We try not to let it affect admins or the most active users. (It would not likely apply to anyone reading this!)
Importantly, the wiki license does not change. All authors retain their own copyrights and the content remains available under the same Creative Commons license that you use already.
In terms of the software, we would try to keep any extensions you're already using and also make many more available to you as an option for the community to use if they want to. That does depend on them being safe. Looking at the current list, the only ones I've not heard of before are the APC cache and the Alexa one, so we'd need to make sure that these don't have any security vulnerabilities if you want to continue using them.
I hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any concerns about the move.
Angela@fandom (talk) 06:49, September 22, 2009 (UTC)
Okay, thanks. But is it possible to maintain the default appearance as it is? --Pullamosso 07:39, September 23, 2009 (UTC)
For now, yes - the wiki could be on the monobook skin, but I can not promise it would stay that way forever, and it would include ads like the German edition does. Angela@fandom (talk) 23:17, September 25, 2009 (UTC)
Why? We are very fond of it. It would be a great loss. --Pullamosso 15:17, September 26, 2009 (UTC)

I transferred this here so it's easier for you to follow :) --Pullamosso 12:13, September 28, 2009 (UTC)

That's a good idea. I just don't want to make guarantees about a skin that we may not support forever. I understand that it's important for a parody of Wikipedia to maintain the same look and feel as that site, though even Wikipedia is planning a new skin soon. You can see it here. When changes like that are made, the new code put into MediaWiki doesn't always support older skins and it's important to move forward with new things and not have to keep some wikis on an old version so that they look exactly the same. Of course, the skins are always customisable though, and some wikis have made the monaco skin look more like the old monobook one. See Guild Wars or TimeSplitters for examples. Angela@fandom (talk) 12:50, September 28, 2009 (UTC)
Yes, I know. We parodied even that already. But could you promise that the outlook of Hikipedia will be at least like Wikipedia's if it has to change? --Pullamosso 16:35, September 28, 2009 (UTC)
Sorry, but I can't. It may be necessary to change skins in the future. However, users will be able to choose their own skin in their preferences, so it won't affect anyone that's actually involved in the wiki - just unregistered users until they log in and set their preferences. Angela@fandom (talk) 20:33, September 28, 2009 (UTC)
I am afraid we can not accept that. --Pullamosso 12:38, September 30, 2009 (UTC)
I'm sorry about that. Is there anything we could do to customise Monaco to make it acceptable? Angela@fandom (talk) 13:47, September 30, 2009 (UTC)
Well, if it could imitate the current look of Hikipedia or possibly the future look of Wikipedia...? --Pullamosso 20:07, October 1, 2009 (UTC)
What do you think about the guildwikis look? Is that close enough? The one big difference is that the sidebar can not be made any narrower. Angela@fandom (talk) 00:07, October 2, 2009 (UTC)
We are voting about this right now. --Pullamosso 11:16, October 5, 2009 (UTC)

I know you won't be able to help but Anon1Guardian has hacked into Oppdis's account on the Azusanity wiki--Daipenmon 03:01, September 25, 2009 (UTC)

I recommend that Oppdis contacts staff by email to arrange resetting his password. It has to be done by email since the password can't be given out on the wiki. Angela@fandom (talk) 03:23, September 25, 2009 (UTC)

But he doesn't know about Anon1Guardian hacking his account yet, l tried to stop him and undo what he did but, he blocked my Veemon acount.--Daipenmon 03:31, September 25, 2009 (UTC)

Is this on Wikia? If so, please can you give me a link to the wiki and details about why you think the account was hacked. Thanks, Angela@fandom (talk) 03:39, September 25, 2009 (UTC)

Why hello there!!! I am Anon1Guardian, I stole this wiki from oppdis!!!!! I am leader of the Trolling Crew!!! We fight against all things Azu!!!--Daipenmon 03:42, September 25, 2009 (UTC)

The wiki is powered by MediaWiki:Sitenotice, the same with Wikipedia and Wikia, Anon1guardian just blocked Funakounsoul and Daniel benfield the reason was unacceptable names, but the reason he blocked my Veemon accounto was false infomation.--Daipenmon 03:44, September 25, 2009 (UTC)

Unfortunately that wiki is not hosted by Wikia. They just use the same software (which anyone is free to use). So, I can't block that user or help Oppdis. I can't even make an account and log in to revert the vandalism as there's a problem with the recaptcha key. None of the wiki's admin seem to be active anymore. One thing you could do if you can't get in touch with the owner of the site is to make a new wiki and then I can help you to import the content from that site to the new one and make sure that vandals don't take it over. I've emailed the person who owns the Oppdis account on Wikia about this. I don't know if that's the same person though. Angela@fandom (talk) 04:52, September 25, 2009 (UTC)
Hi, Angela - it's me, Daniel Benfield. Listen, I want to re-create the AzuSanity Wiki and import the content (had a lot of stuff on there), but I don't know what category it would go under. Further, I don't know whether to use "www." in the address, or how to go about taking care of a Wiki. PLEASE let me know. Thanks. Daniel Benfield 02:41, September 29, 2009 (UTC)
Hi Daniel. I've set up a copy of the wiki at I'll leave you a message on the wiki with more details. Angela@fandom (talk) 03:22, September 29, 2009 (UTC)
Thanks. One question - who's going to be the moderator/upkeeper on that page? I mean, I know next to nothing about keeping a Wiki safe. (Oh, and I suggest removing Daipenmon from the list of SysOps, since he vandalized several pages.) Daniel Benfield 04:37, September 29, 2009 (UTC)
I made Daipenmon an admin as he was the one who asked for help when the original wiki was being damaged. I'll make you one there considering you contributed a lot of the content on the original wiki. Do you have any examples of pages he has vandalised recently? Angela@fandom (talk) 04:47, September 29, 2009 (UTC)
Quick add-on -- is the new AzuSanity Wiki available for registered users only? If so, then great. Daniel Benfield 04:40, September 29, 2009 (UTC)
The wiki doesn't need to be locked down to logged in users at this stage as there are lots of anti-spam and anti-vandalism tools that can be used if there's ever a problem. Angela@fandom (talk) 04:47, September 29, 2009 (UTC)
My apologies -- he was not a vandalizer. He apparently was helping you move the pages. Anyway, I do not seem to be listed as an admin anywhere on the site. Daniel Benfield 05:06, September 29, 2009 (UTC) All I did was add a bunch of info related to a few things I wrote. I may have contributed a lot of content, but that was only because I couldn't simplify the information and had my story go through a sizable revision. I honestly don't deserve to be an admin for (probably) doubling the size of the site and owning some of the largest pages on it. Daniel Benfield 05:35, September 29, 2009 (UTC)
Don't worry. Adminship just gives you access to a few extra tools which might enable you to clear up vandalism if it happens again. Angela@fandom (talk) 08:40, September 29, 2009 (UTC)

However the ornginal wiki was deleted.--Daipenmon 02:36, October 1, 2009 (UTC)

It says on this forum that it might be reopened. Are you a member there? Perhaps you could tell them about the wiki being re-opened at Wikia. Angela@fandom (talk) 02:45, October 1, 2009 (UTC)

I managed to send an e-mail with the link to the Azusanity wiki, to an former admin who posted in that topic did mention that the Grim Azubastion forum might be reopened and not the original wiki.--Daipenmon 04:54, October 1, 2009 (UTC)

I am being told by the trolls that took it down originally to remove the Wiki. Angela, you must protect it or they have threatened to take it down. Daniel Benfield 22:15, October 1, 2009 (UTC)

They're asking for my password, Angela, so they can take it down from the inside. Daniel Benfield 22:19, October 1, 2009 (UTC)
They're now threatening to sell my stories on ebay. Daniel Benfield 22:47, October 1, 2009 (UTC)
Either I give them my login info, or its going on ebay. ANGELA, WHERE ARE YOU?! Daniel Benfield 22:52, October 1, 2009 (UTC)

And send them here --

It's all over the place -- but especially #GreenHillZone. Daniel Benfield 23:38, October 1, 2009 (UTC)

No, and no. They're asking for my password NOW, Angela. I'M IN DEEP TROUBLE, AND I CAN'T GET OUT! Daniel Benfield 23:59, October 1, 2009 (UTC)
I've changed it to something REALLY hard to crack, but they're still asking for it. What do I do now, give them the fake password? Daniel Benfield 00:03, October 2, 2009 (UTC)
They're selling my stories as their own on Craigslist instead of Ebay, Angela. And no, I don't know how to complain to them.

If that isn't enough to convince you that we need to do something NOW... Daniel Benfield 00:11, October 2, 2009 (UTC)

(fixed link above) This is happening on Mibbit, some site which I have no clue about. They're hounding me right now to surrender, and I can either do that or leave altogether from the site...which might make them angrier. Daniel Benfield 00:18, October 2, 2009 (UTC)

I left the site.

Well, I did it, Angela -- I left the live-chat site. I refused to surrender, and am choosing to ignore them.

The original owner of the AzuSanity Wiki (Collin, username Oppdis) is a troll now, and as such he deserves no privileges on the site that was once his.

Further, I suggest that you protect all pages on the AzuSanity Wiki so that NOBODY can edit them. That whole Wiki needs to be on total lockdown for a while.

(UPDATE: IT'S ALREADY STARTED, ANGELA -- the trolls are going through the AzuSanity Wiki. What have I done...?)

Relax if they come and vandalize the wiki, they will be blocked.--Daipenmon 13:28, October 2, 2009 (UTC)

That's fine, but they stated both my home address and internet router info during the mess, which means that I and my family might be at a serious risk. Daniel Benfield 13:56, October 2, 2009 (UTC)

That's not good since the can send mail to your home address and can send viruses worms and trojans to your computer via your router, not to mention hack into it, just like Anon1Guardian hacked Oppdis' account on the latter's version of the wiki.--Daipenmon 17:35, October 2, 2009 (UTC)

gedcom import and other toolbar Edit

Hello Angela ! I'm an admin at Stamboom Wiki and I cooperate with Enno Borgsteede. We know that gedcom import is possible at Familypedia ( in the tool add image(Sannse ever mentioned this). Above that Familypedia has a very good toolbar for editing pages. Is it possible to install these 2 facilities also to Stamboom wikia ? Thanks in advance, kind regards, Fred Bergman --Bergsmit 18:41, October 3, 2009 (UTC)

Ged files can now be uploaded on Stamboom. Is the toolbar you mean the new rich text editor? This isn't yet enabled for Dutch wikis, but will be fairly soon. Angela@fandom (talk) 13:38, October 4, 2009 (UTC)

New advertising Edit

Hi! I'm admin on FR-Lostpedia, maybe you remember me… Anyway, for about two weeks, we have had a new advertising on top of our pages, which is not very pleasant. I would just like to know if we are obliged to keep it… Thank you in advance!  Nico  16:20, October 6, 2009 (UTC)

For a long while ads were removed from French wikis, but we have recently had to replace them. However, except for the one on the home page page, logged in users should not see any ads. If you are seeing any on articles, please let me know as those should not appear. The ads support the cost of hosting the wiki so it isn't permitted at this time to remove them. Angela@fandom (talk) 04:40, October 7, 2009 (UTC)
Yes, it is as you said for logged users. Thank you for your answer.  Nico  13:47, October 7, 2009 (UTC)

Sysop on Who's Your Favorite Character Wikia Edit

Hey, there is this new Wikia: Who's your favorite character wiki, and it has me and this other guy, who made the site. He is new to wikis and I was wondering if I could become a Bureaucrat and Sysop so I can help that Wiki and get it going. I came to ask you because there isn't an admin on that site yet. --*ns0n *+k!n 00:42, October 7, 2009 (UTC)

How can I get sitenotice back? Edit

I clicked "hide", and now it's gone. How can I get it back?

--Penko 12:27, October 8, 2009 (UTC)

If you just want to read it again, you can go to the page called MediaWiki:Sitenotice on your wiki. I think that if you delete your cookies in your browser you will see it again. If you are an admin on the wiki, you can edit MediaWiki:Sitenotice id on your wiki and change the number to one higher than it is. This resets the sitenotice for everyone. Angela@fandom (talk) 12:31, October 8, 2009 (UTC)
I deleted cookies but it didn't help. I am admin in the wiki, but there isn't that MediaWiki:Sitenotice id page. Should I create it? --Penko 12:49, October 8, 2009 (UTC)
Yes, create it with a "2" in it and it should help. Angela@fandom (talk) 12:54, October 8, 2009 (UTC)
It worked. Thanks! --Penko 13:07, October 8, 2009 (UTC)

New Wiki's to be closed? Edit

Hi Angela, I was browsing Special:Newwikis as I do, I came across Someguy777 Wiki, I clicked it, to see the domain clubpenguinstinks. On further investigation it turns out the wiki is a attack on Disney. The language there is rather... emm.. well not wiki-nice. Just thought I would point it out :) Lcawte1Talk - My Wikia's list - New Wiki Watchlist 20:41, October 13, 2009 (UTC)

Criticisms of companies or games could have the potential to be useful, so these are not prohibited (criticisms of people are a different matter). In this case it looks like someone just messing around, so I would suggest ignoring the wiki until the founder gets bored and then it can be cleaned up. There are always going to be some wikis with not very good content, but it's really just the harmful ones that violate our terms of use or the spam ones that we need to delete right away. If you do think this should be deleted, I recommend sending a note to special:contact about it. Angela@fandom (talk) 02:58, October 14, 2009 (UTC)

...wut? Edit

Hiya Angela =)

I'm scared to touch this myself, it feels like I must be missing out on something but... there's something wrong there imo. Visit The English language Wikia about Willorlando looks very wrong to me, but again, I'm convinced I must be missing something.

If you could change this or respond I'd be very grateful, thanks! A F K sig 2 A F K When Needed 15:40, October 14, 2009 (UTC)

The message just points to whatever the user called their wiki. This one is called Willorlando for some reason which is why it says that. Angela@fandom (talk) 08:15, October 15, 2009 (UTC)
That's not what I mean. The first quotes wiki was started by User:Willorlando. Then another Quotes wiki. Then a third one. All by different contributors.
I understand the first one, but I don't understand why Quotes is redirected to Willorlando, and why the other two Quotes Wikis are on the mysterious Willorlando page. The second and third Wikis (in descending order) have absolutely no mention of Willorlando in either their site or url. But for some reason they're all there while Quotes redirects.
It just looks... wrong... A F K sig 2 A F K When Needed 21:52, October 15, 2009 (UTC)
I see what you mean now. The reason is has happened is that the first one has the subdomain "quotes" so the bot adds a redirect from "quotes" to the sitename which is willorlando. Then for the next 2 that were made, when trying to put a page on the sitename page (actually sitename minus "wiki") it followed the redirect and ended up on willorlando. It's a slightly better situation than before when the bot used to try sticking a bunch of text at the end of a redirect page, but there will be odd cases where it doesn't make sense. Those can be manually edited and moved to sensible titles, though we do hope to work on improvements to this in the future and get some more automated listing of which wikis exist. Angela@fandom (talk) 22:16, October 15, 2009 (UTC)
Oh, thanks.
If I'm not particularly familiar with a wiki (e.g. this one) I'll generally poke someone else instead of risking a mistake myself. A F K sig 2 A F K When Needed 19:02, October 16, 2009 (UTC)

COPPA Violations Edit

Hey Angela, here I am to bug you again. There are two major COPPA violations on Brickipedia, and they have started a forum to stop the banning of two users. One says that he was joking when he admitted to being under 13. They have started a forum, and now User:Breadvil417 is recruiting meatpuppets to win the forum. Actually, in accordance with COPPA, Wikia cannot accept user registration by users under the age of 13. We decided to recognize as the new Norwegian uncyclopedia. Please make nn to point to it. --Leeyc0 13:53, November 2, 2009 (UTC)
Sorry, but the users at w:c:ikkjepedia are strongly against this (and actually tried to block me when I added this link) so please do not use this link on Wikia. Angela@fandom (talk) 00:23, November 3, 2009 (UTC)
Thank you. I'd like to ask one more question first. do you (or anyone) know why is set up in parallel to w:c:ikkjepedia? --Leeyc0 14:33, November 3, 2009 (UTC)
Our admin decided it is ok to link nn to w:c:ikkjepedia. Thank you. --Leeyc0 15:32, November 3, 2009 (UTC)
How about the status of the nn interwiki link? --Leeyc0 06:51, November 7, 2009 (UTC)
You can use no: instead of nn:. Angela@fandom (talk) 11:13, November 7, 2009 (UTC)
Sorry, no: is Norweigian (Norsk) while nn: is New Norweigian (Nynorsk), they are two different languages. --Leeyc0 12:18, November 7, 2009 (UTC)
I suggest that you talk to the people at w:c:ikkjepedia about that. As far as I'm aware, they are the Uncyclopedia for both versions of Norwegian. Angela@fandom (talk) 13:04, November 7, 2009 (UTC)
After I contacted with w:c:ikkjepedia, it should be no problem to link nn: to, since w:c:ikkjepedia is focused on nynorsk (or New Norwegian), and is focused on bokmål (the other Norwegian). --Leeyc0 16:50, November 7, 2009 (UTC)
I made a mistake. According to w:c:ikkjepedia, no: and nb: should be linked to and nn: should be linked to w:c:ikkjepedia. --Leeyc0 14:17, November 8, 2009 (UTC)
Our administrators wanted a reply about this issue. If you is unable to do it for us, that's OK, and we will accept it. --Leeyc0 15:20, November 11, 2009 (UTC)
I'm not really sure what you're asking me for. If you need any settings changed, you need to use special:contact. If you want to decide on a policy about which wiki to link to, that is up to each wiki to decide. As you saw, one wiki tried to block me for linking to the other ikkjepedia so you need to work with them to decide what to do. Angela@fandom (talk) 23:35, November 11, 2009 (UTC)

People can make more that one wiki. However, it takes time to make a wiki successful, so making lots of them is not usually a good idea. Angela@fandom (talk) 00:37, November 5, 2009 (UTC)

Actual Question XD Edit

Okay, now I actually have a question. Does Wikia feature project pages or no?-Neo (T) (C) (Home) 01:34, November 6, 2009 (UTC)

What exactly do you mean? Each wiki has a Project: namespace. Angela@fandom (talk) 01:36, November 6, 2009 (UTC)
I suppose that's what I meant. Pages beginning with the code Project:blah blah blah.
Thanks. Another question: Can I replace Wikia's default welcoming message to new contributors with the one my buddy made for our wiki? You can see it here.-Neo (T) (C) (Home) 01:46, November 6, 2009 (UTC)
On, the project namespace is called Triforce of Courage Wiki. You can change the welcome message by editing w:c:toc:MediaWiki:Welcome-message-user (the welcome for logged in users) and w:c:toc:MediaWiki:Welcome-message-anon (for unregistered users). You can find other info and settings on this page. Angela@fandom (talk) 01:57, November 6, 2009 (UTC)
Sweet! Thanks. But what I meant by project pages was something like our Hyrule Castle page at Zelda, you know?-Neo (T) (C) (Home) 02:09, November 6, 2009 (UTC)
I see. Yes, you can make a discussion page like that. Here's an example from Memory-Alpha before they decided to use wiki forums instead which are now at Memory Alpha:Ten Forward. You're welcome to use either a single page or a forum. You can find a forum for your wiki set up at w:c:toc:Forum:Index. Angela@fandom (talk) 02:22, November 6, 2009 (UTC)

Neat. Thanks for your help!-Neo (T) (C) (Home) 02:26, November 6, 2009 (UTC)

Action Panel @ UnAnswers Edit

Hiya Angela :)

Something a friend of mine said earlier today gave me an idea. As a Supervisor (I'm not a Manager) on WikiAnswers I've access to the Action Panel. On UnAnswers would it be at all possible for Bureaucrats to set access rights to the Action Panel?

I feel it's a tool that we might as well make use of, but currently nobody on the site has access to it. When I remembered that Managers can grant access to the Action Panel (by way of granting somebody Supervisor privileges) I wondered if it'd be at all possible to adapt the Bureaucrat rights on UnAnswers to grant it to users.

If it's not possible seperately, would we be able to add it as part of the RollBack or Administrator groups? Sorry for the long message. A F K sig 2 A F K When Needed 13:45, November 8, 2009 (UTC)

Action panel as it is at the moment isn't going to stay so it's not something we're putting work into right now. Instead, something similar will be built in as a feature for all users which will be controllable via preferences instead. Angela@fandom (talk) 22:53, November 8, 2009 (UTC)

Protecting all the pages of a wiki from anons goes against what the wikis are all about. You should protect high traffic pages, and just undo vandalism on the rest. Don't forget to block the vandals (after a warning)! ajr 20:58, November 8, 2009 (UTC)
I suggest that you send example links that demonstrate the problem to special:contact so that staff can consider the different options available. Preventing unregistered edits might not be the best course of action. 22:55,—This unsigned comment is by Angela (wallcontribs) . Please sign your posts with ~~~~! November 8, 2009 (UTC)

Actually, it's a very good idea to do that. Zelda Wiki used to allow unregistered contributors, but we were FLOODED with vandals and spam bots. If you take a look at our earliest block logs from way back in 07, you'll see a complete s**tstorm of vandalism. Granted that we are a private, community wiki, though.-Neo (T) (C) (Home) 05:12, November 9, 2009 (UTC)

Without actually attacking people here, what is wrong with your opinion of what a wiki is? "Anyone can edit". Sure, there is vandalism. There are also loads of users who love to undo vandalism, and others who undo as they see it. ajr 23:09, November 9, 2009 (UTC)
I don't appreciate that. It's his decision to make a wiki private. We found it to be better. I'm speaking from experience as someone who's from beyond Wikia's bounds. I've seen a LOT more vandalism than positive activity by nonregistered contributors, so I really have to stick by my stance.-Neo (T) (C) (Home) 04:17, November 11, 2009 (UTC)
Luckily Wikia isn't subject to such vigorous spam/vandalism, but it's important to remember that lots of great things can come from the simplest unregistered contributor and blocking all of them because of a few persistent ones isn't always positive, but it does have its place sometimes. If he is under constant 'attack' by the unregistered contributors or a simple persistent vandal it becomes their community's decision as to which ground of action takes place. And in a lot of cases, other means of protection can be suggested by the Community Team when asked. Regardless, as Angela said above, as many links as possible expressing the situation should be sent to Special:Contact and the appropriate action can be taken. ~Joey~ ^Talk^ 04:58, November 11, 2009 (UTC)

I have already sent a message via the Contact Wikia form but I want this sorted out quick as I have never been blocked on any wiki to my knowledge. Thanks, ☆The Solar Dragon (talk)☆ 06:15, November 11, 2009 (UTC)

As I said to Tsepelcory, de-adminning users is not a staff issue as it can be done by a local bureaucrat, of which UnMario has at least a few who are active. Have you tried speaking to them? It may be best for Purple Ninjakoopa to handle this as he's the one who made Tsepelcory an admin in the first place. Angela@fandom (talk) 07:08, November 11, 2009 (UTC)
Thing is, I can't ask him as I am currently blocked for doing nothing at all. I would do but I just can't. ☆The Solar Dragon (talk)☆ 07:21, November 11, 2009 (UTC)
One thing you could do is leave a message for him on this wiki at user talk:Purple Ninjakoopa. Message notifications work sitewide, so even if he only visits UnMario, he'll get an orange note telling him he has a new message here. Angela@fandom (talk) 07:39, November 11, 2009 (UTC)

PvX Skills and Skill Packs Edit

Hi Angela.
I have 2 quick questions:

First, what would it take to get the skills updated on our wiki? They have been outdated for a while now. I'd be happy to present a list, if that's what's needed. I also had a suggestion for this problem. There is another Guild Wars fan site on your server called Would it be possible to somehow link our build database with theirs?

The second question, I think you may have answered before. On PvX, we have been trying to find a way for people to download multiple builds or groups of builds at once. Is that something that is do-able through wikia, or should we try to outsource that?
Thanks, Karate Jesus 15:08, 11 November 2009

Also, I just learned that there is a database of our skills hosted on wikia somewhere. Would it be possible to give one of our admins access to those skills so that they can update when the skills don't update appropriately? Karate Jesus 21:37, 11 November 2009
Is this the same as is being asked on my talk page on the pvx wiki? If so, the issue is already filed in RT and an engineer will work on it. If not, please can you send an explanation of what is needed to special:contact? Angela@fandom (talk) 23:37, November 11, 2009 (UTC)
I'm sorry. It is the same issue that's on your PvX talk (it was added after I said this). We were only pushing it so hard because we were told something would be done around 3-4 months ago, and then never heard anything again. Thanks for the help. Karate Jesus 03:47, 12 November 2009

Someone hacked and changed the password and removed the email Edit

Hello my account name is 'Teesam' but someone hacked and removed the email and changed the password. How can I get it back?-- 05:49, November 13, 2009 (UTC)

Hello Teesam. It looks like you deliberately gave away your password rather than being hacked. Could you email from your hotmail account that you used to have in your preferences to prove that this is you? Angela@fandom (talk) 06:04, November 13, 2009 (UTC)
Unfortunately, is my dad's account and he likes to know everything so I must keep this safe. I will use my Gmail account. And that message is by the hacker written at that article.-- 06:29, November 13, 2009 (UTC)
When will you give me password via my gmail account? You can also reply via Hotmail account.-- 06:37, November 13, 2009 (UTC)
You can now use the "email new password" button on Special:UserLogin to send a new password to the hotmail account. Please be sure to change it to a secure password that other people can not guess and do not ever give any other person your password as you can be held responsible for anything they do with it. Redirects? Edit

Hey, i don't know much about wikis, but i was wondering, instead of the normal redirect which takes you to another page on the wiki, can you redirect to a page outside of the wiki? Will there be a warning to the person being redirected if so (or is that browser reliant?). Cheers and thanks. Gringo 06:24, November 13, 2009 (UTC)

It's not possible to do this because people might abuse the redirects and send people unwillingly to nasty sites on the Internet. Angela@fandom (talk) 06:26, November 13, 2009 (UTC)

Encarta Wiki Edit

I was just wondering if my rights from the Skynet T1000 account could be transfered to this one on the Encarta Wiki, wikiversity wiki and the British-Politics Wiki since I've lost the password to the account, thanks in advance. HK-90 14:14, November 14, 2009 (UTC)
This is done. Angela@fandom (talk) 23:33, November 14, 2009 (UTC)

Where can I find the templates for the Main Page?

How to change the name of the site to

Which templates do you mean? If there's a wiki where you've seen these, you could copy them from that wiki. If you give me an example, I can help you to find them. I've changed the domain to be Angela@fandom (talk) 00:57, November 27, 2009 (UTC)
Dear Angela, could you include my web page as the be-x-old version of the site uncyclopedia?

Merging wikias Edit

Hello. I have a question about Merging wikias. Specifically I am trying to merge Fleetway Sonic Wiki into Sonic the Comic Wiki. Sorry to drop this on you, but you were the only staff member whose name appeared in the page history of Wikia:Merging, even if it was just to move the page.

Anyway, I have looked at Wikia:Merging, which says that content needs to be moved from the old wiki to the new one (I have done this), and then that I should inform Wikia staff by adding a certain template to the old wiki's main page, and to the Wikia description page (I assume it means the wiki's page on Central Wikia). I am confused by this for two reasons. First, that template doesn't exist on the individual wikis, so I can't put it on the main page. I just cobbled something together from the source code. Second, I don't see how the template informs Wikia staff of anything. It doesn't categorise the pages as far as I can see, so the only way anyone would know is if they were watching the template's "what links here" page, and I kinda doubt anyone does that (is it even possible?). Is this really how I am supposed to go about merging wikis, or does the Merging page need updating?

Many thanks, Supermorff 09:19, November 29, 2009 (UTC)

I'll reply on your talk page. Angela@fandom (talk) 12:07, November 29, 2009 (UTC)
Ah, thank you, I would really appreciate that. Yes, all of the pages have been copied over.
In future, though, how should I go about merging wikis if I need to? (I suspect tickandarthur.wikia could do with being merged into tick.wikia in the near future, for example.) I take it just using the Merged template is not sufficient? -- Supermorff 12:43, November 29, 2009 (UTC)
It's best to send a message to special:contact asking for one wiki to be redirected to another since that's something only staff can do. Angela@fandom (talk) 09:06, November 30, 2009 (UTC)
Ah, okay then, thank you. I will do that in future. I may mention that on the Merging page as well. Should I redirect the Fleetway Sonic page on Central Wikia to point to Sonic the Comic as well? -- Supermorff 14:53, November 30, 2009 (UTC)
Yes, that's a good idea. Angela@fandom (talk) 21:58, November 30, 2009 (UTC)
Okay. Thanks again for all your help on this! -- Supermorff 08:48, December 1, 2009 (UTC)

What's going on? Some of the images aren't previewing properly, and my burger and fanfic look diabolical with not all of the images showing. What's going on?--Launchballer 15:09, November 29, 2009 (UTC)

I think there must be a temporary problem with the cache. Hopefully it'll be fixed soon as the techs are aware of it. Angela@fandom (talk)
