Big Time Spam

Hello,

Okay. I have no where else to turn for this problem I have over at The Lemony Snicket Wiki. You see, there is this user, Dagoth Ur, Mad God, over at the wiki that had volunteered for a job there, so I made him a sysop and gave him some sysop guides. I leave the wiki alone overnight and then I come back and everything for the MediaWiki pages and more had been totally changed. And then, after I get the user blocked, I chat with a fellow user of the French Lemony Snicket Wiki and she says that she can't edit over at the English wiki because her IP address has been being used by a user called Dagoth Ur, Mad God. And since I blocked the spammer, Dagoth Ur, Mad God, she has been blocked, too. Is there away to keep the spammer blocked but get my friend unblocked? I also want to know if there is a way to undo every single contribution from an editor, particulary a spammer? Please help me out, someone.

I see that there are very few spam reports apart from my modest efforts, and it looks like the Vim Tips wiki is going to keep getting these practice spams for a while. Whatever turns up, I will delete, and add another line to this section. --JohnBeckett 09:50, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

It's not that Vim is the only wiki being spammed, it's that most users don't know where to go to report spam, or even recognise that it is spam. Other reports come in via our Report A Problem feature, and lots of spam is caught by Janitors in #cvn-wikia.
