Why fight spam?[]
I've just added an explanation on why spam is bad for wikis (diff here) - am I on the right lines? It sounds true but I'm just guessing really. totnesmartin 00:11, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
- Well, it's more content based: spam is unlikely to be related to relevant to that wiki - essentially vandalism. Kirkburn (talk) 13:57, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
Inconsistent redirects depending on how the page is viewed[]
This page is available from both http://www.wikia.com/wiki/Help:Spam and http://help.wikia.com/wiki/Help:Spam. When I click the link for the blacklist in item 14 in the first section and in the "see also" section from http://www.wikia.com/wiki/Help:Spam I am redirected back to the same page. When I click from http://help.wikia.com/wiki/Help:Spam I am sent to a different page. Argadi 08:57, November 28, 2009 (UTC)
What is the date?[]
The comment above has a date of 28 November 2009. But after I made the changes the following text was at the bottom of the displayed page:
Argadi made an edit on 7 January 2009
Some software/server is quite confused. Argadi 09:00, November 28, 2009 (UTC)
- To make the problem easier to solve, the problem went away as I created this section. The edit date was then 28 November 2009. (The quote above was a copy-and-paste.) Argadi 09:01, November 28, 2009 (UTC)
Pools closed due to Spam Filter[]
The VSTF Wiki isn't letting me report Spam filtering errors even though it says I'm logged in. If you're not going to make a wiki that is beneficial you might as well remove it. Anitaria Online 08:30, October 16, 2010 (UTC)
- You need to report the issues without actually saying the blocked text; it is still blocked on the VSTF Wiki. Sorry, Ajraddatz Talk 13:47, October 16, 2010 (UTC)
Add DIS![]
"We are sorry, but you cannot create a page with this data. Our spam filter believes there is something fishy going on." 99.172.137.235
Long-winded links?[]
From the summaries of recent edits. I've noticed that links to resources on Wikia but external to Community Central (e.g. the VSTF Wiki) are given in the w:c: format. Since this is already Community Central, surely the w: in such links is superfluous? — evilquoll (talk) 01:21, September 16, 2017 (UTC)
- Hello! The extra bits are so that the help pages are linked appropriately on other wikis, as these help pages show up on all wikis. You can take a look at Help:Improving_help_pages#Using_links_in_Shared_Help for more information. noreplyz talk 01:36, September 16, 2017 (UTC)
Profile Spam[]
My profile page was deleted and was summarized as spam. Any reason? I do understand that if you don't work for this particular wiki, you don't need a profile, but it's nice to have a page about you that people can discover. SascavaHuski (talk) 02:36, October 4, 2018 (UTC)
- Hello, you should contact the VSTF member that deleted your profile and ask them for details about the page deletion. TheKorraFanatic (Talk Page) (Contributions) (Guestbook)
Message wall spam[]
Is nobody listening to me because of this problem. Please listen to me and look at this. https://marvel-cinematic-universe-fanon.fandom.com/wiki/Thread:6739?useskin=oasis
Edit war[]
Please protect this page for 1 week to prevent further edit warring. WikiOfEverything (talk • contribs) 05:52, September 18, 2020 (UTC)
- To be fair, you were the user that started the edit war in the first place. So you're not really the one to talk. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 05:55, September 18, 2020 (UTC)
Question about the license[]
Is it still considered spam when I put the link in the license box? I found the file from another website and I’m crediting it. - HalfBacon 13:25, 12 October 2024 (UTC)
