Hi, the import feature 'admins can use Special:Import' could usefully be clearer on who can be an admins. tom

What if the same page already exists?[]

What happens if the same pagename exists on the target wiki? If one exports a set of pages from a source wiki and then imports those pages into a wikia site / target, and that page name is already present in the target, what happens? Does the new content overwrite the existing content? Does the new content get put into the end of the existing content? Rauterkus 17:23, October 9, 2010 (UTC)

The import will overwrite the original page AFAIK. Mark (talk) 17:32, October 9, 2010 (UTC)
The history of the import file is merged into the page. Frozen Wind 18:53, December 5, 2010 (UTC)
Perhaps a new section on the help page as to what to do in cases like this, where two pages have the same name, would be helpful. bloob (talk) 15:58, March 26, 2013 (UTC)

Maximum size of XML file?[]

Hello, what is the maximum size of an exported file allowed to import? Sometimes i see the warning this file is too big. What about 11MB? --Saviour1981 (talk) 00:41, December 21, 2013 (UTC)

Make this recurse over categories[]

Can this feature be added? it would be very helpful.FortressMaximus #WeLoveLegends (Talk) 11:12, July 13, 2017 (UTC)

"if it's unchecked then it will link to their profile on the wiki defined by the interwiki prefix"[]

So, the assigning edits properly through interwiki didn't work--the edits are all assigned to me. Granted, I don't know if that's because it wouldn't let me import to MediaWiki namespace (despite my being an admin--guess that's a new thing, because I can't move it to MW space after the fact either) so I needed to switch namespace... or if the wiki name was somehow malformed? Sad because I was importing specifically to keep attribution while I played around with trying to fix something in a forked version on my test wiki... - Citrusellaeditswikis (talk) 15:45, January 12, 2021 (UTC)

Okay, so the sitewide JS issue I think I have pinned down, but I'm still not sure if that explains the attribution issue here... - Citrusellaeditswikis (talk) 15:52, January 12, 2021 (UTC)
It does not explain the attribution issue. All edits are assigned to me on import, even in an otherwise issue-free import. Is this a bug? - Citrusellaeditswikis (talk) 16:46, January 12, 2021 (UTC)
I don't know what's changed but all of a sudden it works right, so... - Citrusellaeditswikis (talk) 17:27, January 20, 2021 (UTC)
