GPL text[edit source]
"Confusing the licenses" says "You may:
...Include images under any of the following licenses: public domain, GFDL, CC-BY, CC-BY-SA, BSD, GPL, LGPL. ..."
How about text from a GPL html page? The ones I have in mind are all part of http://www.freecol.org/docs/FreeCol.html, a very detailed user guide for the strategy game FreeCol. I would love to have it on the Civ wiki so that its pages could be easily linked to and from, to a greater extent than the guide links them.
- I'll pass this on, but I suggest using Special:Contact for legal-style questions - easier to get it to the right people that way :) Kirkburn (talk) 16:19, 23 January 2009 (UTC)
It says, "The wikis are owned by the communities..." It seems more factual that the wikis are owned by Wikia, Inc. -- ResearchBiz 13:18, March 7, 2010 (UTC)
- The idea is no one person (such as the founder or an administrator) is absolutely in charge of the wiki; they don't own it. The community makes the majority of the decisions on the wiki. Wikia usually doesn't make the decisions for a specific wiki, seldom do they make a decision for the wiki, and usually the community is there to think for itself. There's a redlink to Help:Licenses in the second section of this page. Wasn't sure if it's supposed to be Help:Licensing or Help:Image copyright tags or something else, so I'll just point it out here. Elseweyr talk • stalk 21:02:01, March 19, 2014 (UTC)
Should we add rollbacking good faith edits as a common mistake? Since the reverting page says it's only supposed to be used in cases of vandalism, where it marks the edit as minor, hides it from wiki activity and recent changes, and gives a block link in the edit summary. - ThePokémonGamer (talk) 02:58, September 20, 2015 (UTC)
