Animated Avatars[]
Is it possible to use a GIF as an avatar have make it animated? (User Page) (talk)
- It says on the help page that you can use any GIF as an avatar. You can try; per the help page, I'm pretty sure it'll work.
Uploading Problems[]
Whenever I upload an avatar, the avatar gets cut off by a white banner on the upper part and the picture's lower part is missing. Master D 17:13, July 9, 2011 (UTC)

Doesn't work[]
For some reason, it simply doesn't work. The only place where my avatar changes is on the Preferences page. Everywhere else - my talk page(s), my profile, chats - my previous avatar persists.

- Thanks! That explains why my avatar changed! However, it seems to be a continued problem for others, as well. I know several people that in the past days have tried to change their avatars, only to.. well.. not have them change! But it seems you're already aware of this. You guys probably know this, but the entire text of this file needs to be rewritten in light of the new user mastheads. I can't upload mine at all[]
Basically, I have it set to 150x150 pixels, saved as a jpg, and it's 12.3kb. And yet, it doesn't take at all. It just says that the file was not chosen, even though I have clicked it many times as I would normally. Is this a bug? RaeLogan (talk) 03:55, June 22, 2013 (UTC)

Not Working[]

On an IPad[]

Animated Avatars not working[]
I tried using GIFs for avatars but they doesn't seem to work. I resized the GIF to the appropriate standards for avatars in the wikia and the GIF normally works. But they don't move when I use them as my avatar.

- Is there other requirements to be fulfilled for it to work aside from the standard requirements for avatars? I tried mine and the file size is less than 100kb and the image size is 170x170. But it still doesn't work. :( -- Jopjopjop (talk) 11:03, June 23, 2014 (UTC)

Disappearing Avatar.[]
For some reason, my avatar disappeared. I did put in a new one, but I don't know why my old one disappeared because I didn't change it. Was it some sort of a glitch?

Can not change avatar[]
I can NOT change my avatar to this image. I converted it to PNG, made it 150x150, and used the "change avatar" function on my userpage, but IT DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. I'm using MobileSafari on IOS. KATMAKROFAN (talk) 01:04, January 12, 2018 (UTC)
Well, first of all an Image can Ben a png, jpg, or gif so you probs didn’t really have to convert it.
Try using google chrome or, it’s an app that lets you, Safari doesn’t support Wiki-features like avatar editing. Or you can use a computer/Android. Nepeta 01:30, January 12, 2018 (UTC)
- You aren't editing your avatar you are just using a different image. This is a bug, not a Safari limitation. If it were a Safari limitation you couldn't upload regular wiki images, but you can. -- Fandyllic (talk · contr) 19 Jun 2018 3:45 PM Pacific

Finding other users' avatars[]
How do you find another user's avatar image? On a wiki I administrate, other admins had uploaded their avatars onto the wiki's main admin page. All but one, who is no longer active. I decided to add it myself, but have no idea how to find it. ZioreRogue (talk) 15:20, May 6, 2021 (UTC)

- Since avatars are personal to a user themselves, and since unregistered users are shown with their IP only (and IPs can change as well, for example if you are browsing Fandom at home on your PC, you have one IP. When you browse Fandom when you are not at home and is on your phone). It wouldn't be a good idea to have unregistered users having an avatar uploaded for that IP only, since that would be annoying to re-upload the avatar as soon as you change IP.
