"An announcement notification will be received by any user who has been active on the community within the past 90 days." I think the correct response would be "An announcement notification will be received by any user who has been active on ANY community within the past 90 days.", as I got my first announcement and it won't go away no matter what. I even used "Mark all as read" but still, the announcement will not go away. And when I tried to opt out of it, it's still there. Should I just wait until it expires? Fear Not! Announcements in a community only appear for users that have been active in that community in the past 90 days, otherwise you would have more than 100 Announcements notifications. As for notifications not being marked as read, that bug should have been fixed recently for Firefox and Safari. If you are still experiencing it, report it as a bug. -- Cube-shaped garbage can 20:43, July 21, 2018 (UTC)

Got announcement, not active[]

I got an announcement from a community where I was inactive. It says only users who were active at that community within the past 90 days would get it, but I was active for over 90 days and didn't go there. Is this a bug? Fear Not! (talk) 00:40, July 26, 2018 (UTC)

Which community are you talking about? -- Cube-shaped garbage can 00:41, July 26, 2018 (UTC)
The Loud House wiki? Fear Not! (talk) 00:51, July 26, 2018 (UTC)
Did that announcement appear before or after your edits to your common.js? -- Cube-shaped garbage can 11:00, July 26, 2018 (UTC)
Neither. It happened after I was active on the Blaze and the Monster Machines wikia for over 90 days, and common.js is disabled there. I never edited that page. --Fear Not! (talk) 15:10, July 26, 2018 (UTC)
Uh, you did edit your common.js on The Loud House Wiki on 21st July. If the announcement happened at or after that time, that's why you received the announcement. -- Cube-shaped garbage can 23:00, July 26, 2018 (UTC)
In that case, I received it before the common.js edit and after. --Fear Not! (talk) 23:11, July 26, 2018 (UTC)
That sounds like a possible bug that you should report through Special:Contact/bug. -- Cube-shaped garbage can 23:18, July 26, 2018 (UTC)
From what I can see, you were inactive on the Loud House Wiki until July 21st, when you edited again. The wiki has had three announcements, two created on or before July 20th (which you shouldn't have seen) and one on July 25th (which you should have seen). So yes, if you saw any announcement other than the one on Clyde's character status, then this is a bug and we appreciate your report! Mira Laime  (help forum | blog) 09:49, July 30, 2018 (UTC)

Directions on how to stop getting these announcements?[]

Is there an option to stop getting or turn off these random announcements that you're getting just because you contributed to a fandom, even in the tiniest way? If there is, can someone please place those instructions in this info page? I know many folks would be more than happy to find out how to do it because quite a few people that I've spoken to or read comments by, find these random "Announcements" more frustrating than they are informative.

If there isn't a way to disable them can someone explain to me where I can request this capability to be added as soon as possible? (It's very frustrating to keep receiving notifications from fandoms that I just made one edit to, replied to, or even just made a comment on, when I have absolutely no interest in anything further to do with that fandom. Even worse when there are crossposts of the exact same announcements between several different fandoms.)

Seconded. These announcements just make me want to avoid contributing to the fandoms that use them.Darth Prefect (talk) 20:43, 6 June 2023 (UTC)
