Language codes are used at FANDOM to designate the primary language of a wiki. They are mostly important to the process of starting a new community, the goal of internationalization, and the creation of interlanguage links.

Importantly, the URLs of non-English wikis are prepended by a language code. So starwars.wikia.com is the English Star Wars wiki, whereas fr.starwars.wikia.com is the French version.

While most language codes are two-letter variants (some of them are derived from the native word for the language—de for Deutsch, not German) there are some codes that are a bit longer.

List of codes

The following list of language codes is subject to change, and may not be completely exhaustive at the time you read it. But it has also been fairly stable over the years that FANDOM has been in operation. It is comprised of the languages in which you can actually start a new wiki or create interlanguage links.

As explained elsewhere, the presence of a language code doesn't mean FANDOM can offer formal support in that language, or that the software has been fully translated into that language.
