#redirectMsg now Javscript-based?

I really don't... care at this point (beyond finding the snap-down when the page loads annoying,) but it's just so incredibly odd that I have to ask why..

Why has the "(Redirected from TargetedPageName)" notice been changed from being a hard-coded notice to a Javascript-based one? I mean- I don't particularly care about this difference... but this sort of change is usually the harbinger of a sort of Deep Mischief, and I am wary. So- why?

We are currently trying out an extension that fixes the problem of the URL showing as the redirected page rather than the target page. It seems to be working well on the wikis it's been tried on, but isn't ready for general release yet. Not least because, as you saw, the redirect text doesn't show on Monobook. It's been turned back off now, so all should be back as it was. -- sannse (talk) 20:05, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

If you've turned the extension back on, it's bugged.

Going to http://guildwars.wikia.com/wiki/Travel_quest, the page loads and displays that URL in the address bar next to the GuildWiki custom favicon.ico, then after a moment the URL gets rewritten to http://guildwars.wikia.com/wiki/Travel_quest#Interconnecting_Quests (this is wrong, it should be http://guildwars.wikia.com/wiki/Port#Interconnecting_Quests ), and at the same time the icon changes from the custom wiki icon to the yellow wikia W (it should remain the wiki custom icon). --◄mendel► 09:01, 7 September 2008 (UTC)

The extension hasn't been turned on yet... I responded on Guild Wars about the Travel quest problem. That's actually a problem that the redirects extension will fix. :) -- Danny (talk) 23:35, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

only 1000 redirects in Special:ListRedirects =

Unrelated to first message, but related to topic subject. The "List redirects" page goes only to 1000. I don't like that. I have to use the random redirect feature (which is kinda neat) but I would prefer if I could see these pointless redirects without having by-chance landing on them. I'm actually not sure how that would get fixed -- I agree that it's annoying to be limited to 1000. That's part of the software... maybe somebody else knows if it's possible to change that. I'll ask around. :) -- Danny (talk) 18:04, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

The workaround is to grab your current pages dump from here, and parse that to find redirects. If you tell me what wiki you're on, I can do that for you, and give you the script I ran to do it. --◄mendel► 21:36, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
