I have a question. What if 2 brothers have a fight on Wiki, should you then both banned the brothers?--Station7 14:53, July 26, 2010 (UTC)

Only if the wiki's policy states that fights will result in blocks. Jeffwang16 (Talk) (Contribs.) Email 15:04, July 26, 2010 (UTC)
You can't answer such a vague question. Every case is different. --IcecreamKitten
Correction: I answered it already. --Jeffwang16 (Talk) (Contribs.) Email 16:40, July 26, 2010 (UTC)
Some wikis have no explicit policy. When banning, you should consider various factors. Here are some examples:
  • If the user appears to have no intention of contributing positive edits, you should consider a permaban (infinite).
  • If the user has a mix of positive and negative edits, you should consider a short term ban based on the severity of the most recent negative issue or the aggregate amount of negative edits. You can see w:c:wow:WoWWiki:Vandalism policy for an example of varying ban lengths based on activity.
  • Sometimes you might want to put a warning on a user's talk page, wait a day for a response, and if they don't respond, give them a 7-day "cooling off" ban.
As IcecreamKitten said, every case is different, but you can operate with some minimal guidelines even if there is no policy. -- Fandyllic (talk · contr) 10:56 AM PST 26 Jul 2010
