Is there an article on how best to promote wikia within Wikia?. If not I'd like to propose one (maybe needs better title though!).

With the large numbers of wikia and controversy over the main page (some of which may be about navigation), maybe I'm not alone in sometimes feeling it'd be good to have better ways of getting an overview of what's here. And maybe some of the newer, smaller wikia feel its just so easy to seem lost in a sea of over 3,000?

I know there's Forum:Attracting Contributors, but this quite reasonably focuses on external promotion (It's also already quite a long article and perhaps best if its concentrates on just one kind of promotion - external).

Within Help:Improving your Wikia it looks like internal promotion gets just one sentence.

So the article proposed (if there isn't anything like this yet) could cover (and so help provide more of an overview of) for example more / better explanation or help on

  • categories
  • hubs
  • wikisocial (more explanation to follow)
  • Society Gardens
  • Wikia news box
  • Featured Wikia
  • Collaboration of the month

I think it's a good idea. (slightly off-topic rant) Since wikis like meta-collab and OPD seem to be inactive I think we need to encourage more of the smaller wikis to work together rather than remain one man shows.--Drawde83 01:07, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
