what

I've found that putting makes it so that if you click on the picture it takes you to another website or page on the wiki. However, this doesn't work when the image is a thumbnail (ie it has a |thumb| in the above syntax) or it's part of a gallery. Is there a way to get picture links working in these two cases? Many thanks!--Acer4666 13:30, July 23, 2011 (UTC)

You could ask Uberfuzzy if you'd like, he's could with that stuff. --TheBen10Mazter (Talk -Blog -Contribs) 15:17, July 23, 2011 (UTC)

That's the best I could do with the time I have. Check http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Images_and_other_uploaded_files#Link  Nidek   (Talk)  Special:Editcount/Nidek edits made  16:58, July 23, 2011 (UTC)
If you're trying to link to another page on the wiki, you can make the file a redirect, just like you'd make a normal page a redirect, then clicking the file will redirect you to the page you want to link to, as a redirect would -- RandomTime 17:00, July 23, 2011 (UTC)
Ah thank you guys - the only thing with the redirect solution, is that would make the image link to a page every time it is used on the wiki, as opposed to just on the page I am using it on. I just wondered if there was a way to do it with wikitext on the page you are on. No probs if not!--Acer4666 19:22, July 23, 2011 (UTC)

Well, I think you shouldn't use the option thumb at all. You can make the image the size you want and it will remove the stupid "uploaded by"; plus you can put the link=  Nidek   (Talk)  Special:Editcount/Nidek edits made  20:34, July 23, 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, I was mainly asking for being able to do it in a gallery. I just noticed that thumbs don't work as well. I think it'd be good to have a gallery where the pictures link you places (eg, on a main page of a wiki)--Acer4666 20:43, July 23, 2011 (UTC)
OK, turns out putting a |link=page| does work in galleries - the problem I have is, if you put hashtags on the links they don't work. (as in, to link to a specific section if I put |link=page#section| it only goes to the top of the page when you click). Any reason this doesn't work?--Acer4666 22:28, July 26, 2011 (UTC)

Normal pictures work as they should.--Acer4666 22:35, July 26, 2011 (UTC)
Acer4666, can you submit a Special:Contact request asking Wikia staff why these image uses all have so inconsistent linking behavior and support? You seem to understand the issues well. You could probably just send them a link to this forum post.
If you do send a request, please post Wikia's answer here. -- Fandyllic (talk · contr) 26 Jul 2011 4:16 PM Pacific

Wikia posting their quick answer: we'll take a look. It is confusing, and thanks for the report - we'll have a look at making it consistent across media display types. (No ETA though, too early for that). Kirkburn  talk  contr    16:34, July 28, 2011 (UTC)
