Since Staff simply don't understand the sheer number of us who do not want Message Wall to replace talkpages, I've set up this page to show them just how many of their users are against the change. This isn't a vote, and it's not really a petition. It's merely a list of users who don't (or do) want this feature to replace talkpages.

Simply sign your name in the appropriate section to show your opinion. Only leave comments in the comment section, as it just makes the list messy otherwise.

  27. I am not pleased with having to be forced to use a social networking site-esque user talk model. It should stay just as it is. And I don't think we need to test this to see what it's like, a lot of us use facebook and blogs on Wikia, this is a mix of the two, not that either are bad, but the mix does not belong on user talk pages. --Callofduty4 17:05, September 27, 2011 (UTC)

  30. This defeats the purpose of a WIKI. This is not Facebook. It's a WIKI. What Staff don't see is that 99.7% hate this godawful feature and will refuse to use it. This means when it does get implemented, communication between users will cease ENTIRELY. Total chaos across the whole of Wikia. And when that happens, I'll be there to remind them "I told you so." I've changed them all to be numbered. There is no possible way that not numbering them would make more sense. NayayenTALK 16:56, September 27, 2011 (UTC
  • Shouldn't the first option simply be "I don't want it as default" since if it's optional, who cares? Also there are about 3 millions users, I don't know how many will sign here, but I doubt it will be a considerable part of them (well let's try it anyway). leviathan_89 17:34, 27 September, 2011 (UTC)
It's Wikia. When has anything been optional? :)    ǝsʞpɐןǝ  (message wall)  18:01, 27/09/2011
  • Well I have to say that hiding longer conversations concept isn't bad, I would really like to see that happening, since talks are sometimes too long, shortening them is a good idea, it makes navigation easier. Also having something that tells us WHAT messages we have isn't bad either, but an old fashioned message box is good enough, if it tells me the heading/s that I got, that's ok. Also, IMPROVING the commenting thing, that is something, if the staff can make an improved version of it then that is gonna be great. To name the user/s to which you want to send the message, then in a box you add the text and just send the message, that if it gets a preview button like the editor will be perfect! I will make sending a message way easier. With the message box linked directly to the heading edited, then navigating to the talk will be easier and compressing discussions is gonna make navigating through the talk a lot easier. What else would we need for improvement?!(dreams of being someone important and having his ideas listened, nice dreams, on the blog they won't be at least...) Ricizubi 17:39, September 27, 2011 (UTC)
  • IDK why you're even bothering with this. Wikia implemented Oasis despite all the complaints, so what makes you think they're going to turn the other cheek with this new feature? Sgt. S.S. 18:51, September 27, 2011 (UTC)
    • Agreed on that. TK999 18:52, September 27, 2011 (UTC)
    • Do you really wanna give up just like that? You have to try, you have to since hope dies last, that's one of the basic parts of human survival, to not give up. its better to try and then say you failed rather than to say you never tried, it might be just one site on the internet, but we users work on it, edit on it so we have to careI don't care if they implement it or not, I want what they implement to be improved, not the way they want it, since that way no one agrees Ricizubi 18:58, September 27, 2011 (UTC)
    • I'm saying, fighting it is just a waste of energy, as the whole Oasis fiasco proved. Sgt. S.S. 19:01, September 27, 2011 (UTC)
      • Exactly. The community tried to avert changes multiple times—they failed. Why is it necessary to start it over again? As an old French saying referring to the Bourbon family put it: “They did not learn anything but they did not forget anything.” TK999 19:05, September 27, 2011 (UTC)
        • S.S.: Oasis was dealt with, but not without lasting blows. This is looking to be even bigger than Oasisgate, which is saying something. The bigger the bomb is, the bigger devestated area. If WoWWiki nearly left because of Oasis, for example, what will happen now? If they actually do up and leave Wikia's bound to take notice and figure something out. Styracosaurus Rider (Speak to the Rider, your Lord and Master) {Look upon my servants} 19:09, September 27, 2011 (UTC)
          • ...or Wikia will just let them leave, keep the WoWWiki's Wikia domain open for advertising revenue, and they (Wikia) won't miss a beat. It happened when the GTA Wiki decided to move. Sgt. S.S. 19:11, September 27, 2011 (UTC)
  • This is not Facebook, this is wikia; and for that reason, I will very much dislike this to be added. Agent Swipe(talk)
  • EBTalk
  • I joined Wikia during November 2008. Nothing new over almost three years has been as bad an idea as this. I feel that adding this message wall thing will make people misinterpret what Wikia truly is.
    --Dser (wall | email) 21:11, 9/27/2011
  • Why has the Wikia Staff decided to implement a feature that Facebook has been catching flack for itself? The stuff that Wikia keeps adding to Wikia was designed for social networking sites (some of which dont even work correctly), not encyclopedias. In their quest to become a small horde of wealthy Zuckerberg clones, they've neglected the most important aspect of the site; the community.--144PA 21:53, September 27, 2011 (UTC)
