DPL

Earlier, a few dpls on my wiki, which would normally return an empty string, returned an error message but since recently all dpl queries return a "Unknown extension tag "dpl"" message. Is anyone else having that problem or is it just me? Sovq 21:14, January 27, 2011 (UTC)

yes, I have the same problem on the desencyclopedie wiki, very annoying and still not fixed. Extension:DynamicPageList (DPL), version 1.8.9 : AVERTISSEMENT : Mauvais paramètre 'randomseed' : ! Utilisation de la valeur par défaut : . Aide : randomseed= | /^\d*$/. {{SUBST:Utilisateur:Meta K Pote/sig2}} 14:57, January 30, 2011 (UTC)
The main problem I had has been solved by Wikia - none of my dpls worked, now they're fine. The error message occurring when the dpl query has no resutls can be dealt with by adding
suppresserrors=true
as another dpl parameter. The result will be the same as it was before the MediaWiki update which is an empty string instead on an error message. Although I'd rather have an empty string result to be the default result of an empty query instead of this message. Ah well, can't have everything ;) Sovq 15:10, January 30, 2011 (UTC)

Draft talk

When I click on the talk page for Help:Avatars:

I end up on a page titled "Draft talk:Avatars - Wikia Help". Click on the talk page link to see.

By the way there is no method of interwiki linking that I know of that will link to help.wikia.com pages and end up with a help.wikia.com URL. See:

--Timeshifter 23:14, January 27, 2011 (UTC)

This is not a MediaWiki 1.16.1 upgrade issue. It was just a redirect on w:c:help:Help_talk:Avatars. I removed the redirect. As you can also see, I made an interwiki link to a page on Help wiki. -- Fandyllic (talk · contr) 31 Jan 2011 6:13 PM Pacific
Thanks. I didn't think to check for a redirect. It didn't cross my mind that someone would move a talk page to a "draft talk" page. That is weird.
I figured out the interwiki problem. See:

Error on blog page

See Forum:An error message in my blog page. The Wikia technical team is aware of the problem, but no fix so far. -- Fandyllic (talk · contr) 28 Jan 2011 1:58 PM Pacific

Issue was fixed and pushed live a few days ago. Please let us know if you see this again or another error message on your blog page. --daNASCAT WikiaStaff.png (help forum | blog) 14:58, February 2, 2011 (UTC)

Update From Wikia About Magic Words & Parser Functions

A number of sections in this thread have referred to issues with basic wiki functions (such as {{#time:}} and {{#ifexist:}}) not working. This issue has been documented by myself and a few other members of your community support team and our technical team is working to remedy the issue.

  • The issue appears limited to a set number of language groups. Ones I've seen it on thus far are: zh (Chinese), nl (Dutch), ko (Korean), li (Lithuanian), it (Italian), and jp (Japanese). I'm sure there are others on the ticket.
  • As a result, I suspect the issue likely is related to character encoding in certain language groups.
  • This means that no English wiki should have this issue. If it does, please Contact us immediately as it means the issue might be different than what we think.

Sorry about this issue and thanks for your patience. --daNASCAT WikiaStaff.png (help forum | blog) 20:33, February 8, 2011 (UTC)

Any news? Sorry to bother you, but as we make an extensive use of parser function, our pages are devastated, especially the homepage. It seems that a couple of terminal square brackets are missing, if this could be useful. Please, could anybody take a look on this issue? Kind Regards and sorry again. As usual you may have to spam w:c:it.memory-alpha:Special:Contact to get Wikia's attention. Squeaky wheel syndrome. -- Fandyllic (talk · contr) 12 Feb 2011 10:00 AM Pacific
It seems that our wheel now goes very silently and fluid, many thanks for your nice work! Gifh talk 17 Feb 2011 22:32 (Local time)

Problem Solved

Hey all, we have solved the issue with Parser Functions. We truly apologize about how long the issue took, but in some good news, the trickiness of the issue allowed for some extra work on Parser Functions. Now, on most of the major non-English language wikis on Wikia, you can enter "expr" to get the "expression" parser function but also type in the equivilant word for "expression" in the other language and get the result. As an example: "#expressie" will do the same function as "#expr" in Dutch. --daNASCAT WikiaStaff.png (help forum | blog) 03:42, February 18, 2011 (UTC)

User can't log in

Pharyngula.wikia has at least two users who are unable to log in at all. [1] [2] I think that both of them registered after the upgrade. I personally am unable to change any of my preferences. I'm at a loss here. We have not made any changes to the default javascripts. MarkovBaines 21:25, January 26, 2011 (UTC)

We believe this has been fixed now. MarkovBaines 19:04, February 20, 2011 (UTC)
