I am doing something extremely bold. This is to get to the bottom of an issue that has sore points.

What I am asking is the difference between the Monaco skin and the new wiki skin?

What is the good points to Monaco, and what is the good points to the new Wiki skin?

As as coder, how is the Monaco skin better (in layman's terms please) and is there anything that can be done about the new Wiki skin that can compare?

Is it possible to recode the new Wiki skin to be better?

I know from experience that the new Wiki skin is easy to use (as a casual user).

Is that the real difference between the two?

I have heard, and understand, that from a coders point of view, that the Monaco skin was better. Is there a way to merge the two? or at least bring a portion of what Monaco was into the new Wiki skin? If this is impossible, then let me know (as a coder of js).Iatbr 08:34, June 24, 2011 (UTC)
:Actually, this forum isn't yours. You aren't allowed to delete anything, even if unconstructive. --BobNewbie ∞(Talk)∞ 08:58, June 24, 2011 (UTC)
I appreciate your candor. But this forum has been warned on editing. This (basically) is not a bitch session. This is a constructive resolution on something that has been a sore point on many wiki's. This subject has been deleted by community central. The staff, and admins are not interested in complaints. I am trying to find out what, if any, constructive additions can be made to help those that want Monaco back. Iatbr 09:07, June 24, 2011 (UTC)

monaco had a sidebar and a different wikiskin. it also had a wider page. the latter being only one reason (of many) it is _never_ coming back. 68.207.93.91 09:08, June 24, 2011 (UTC)
Ok, the wider page thing I have heard about. I have heard that it made making tables easier. Is this true, and if so, how can the new Wiki skin accommodate tables? Iatbr 09:16, June 24, 2011 (UTC)
There are some other wiki farms with the monaco skin. You can test monaco on them by yourself. --Ciencia Al Poder (talk) -WikiDex 09:59, June 24, 2011 (UTC)

I have no idea what a farm is... (again, use laymens terms) I understand that this must be frustrating, trying to promote one without putting down the other. Just do the best you can and provide a link, when appropriate. Iatbr 10:18, June 24, 2011 (UTC)

We are all adults here (for those that choose to be). I have some cofidence that all issues can be resolved. If you have contructive advice, please give it. Iatbr 10:45, June 24, 2011 (UTC)

I have let this forum page sit for a very long time, in the hopes that coders could give hints on how to resolve the old into the new. The only thing that I know that can be done is going to the old old school wiki format (if you cannot deal with the new skin) and use that. This is found at Special:Preferences ---> User profile (default) --> Site Layouts --> (check) MonoBook.

That is the only constructive advice I can give. Otherwise, unless someone else comes up with some tidbits, it is deal with it. Iatbr 14:08, July 13, 2011 (UTC)
